PiPE MUST ALWAYS BE PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH VICTAULIC® SPECIFICATIONS. REFER TO PAGES 32-33. 1. PREPARE TO ASSEMBLE: To prepare or assembly, remove one nut and bol fron housing. Loosen the other nut unti t, i5 flush with the end of the bolt. Do not remove. Remove the tape and lift the gasket from Mechanical -T. 2. CHECK GASKET ANO LUBRICATE: Apply a thin coat of Victaulic® Lubri- cant or silicotie lubricant to all surfaces of the gasket. This is essential toinsure proper sealing. Other compatible lubri- cants may be used, however do not use a petroleum base lubricant. Reposition gasket into housing using alignment tabs on sides for properposi- tioning. 3. POSITION MECHANICAL -T: To as semble the coupling on the pipe first rotate the lower housing approximately 90 degrees away from the upper hous- ing Place the upper, or outlet, section on to the face of the pipe In Hnewith the outlet hole. Rotate the lower section around the pipe and close the two halves. "See pages 72 & 73 tor FIT outlet pipe aes mhly_ 4. INSERT BOLT: insert bolt in its hole and finger tighten both nuts: Be certain oval -neck of bolt engages recess in housing. Make sure that the locating collar is in the outlet hole. This may be checked by rocking the upper housing in the hole. Also make sure that the positioning lugs are properly aligned. GR 14 5. TIGHTEN NUTS: Tighten bolt nuts uniformly until the upper housing Is in complete surface contact in the gasket pocket area and the assembly is rigid. Nuts must be tightened to 50 Ib -ft. with even gaps between the bolt pads for Styles 920 and 929. Torque in excess of 50 Ib. ft. is not desirable. NOTE: Increased bolt torque will not improve sealing. nee so' • STYLE 920 - MECHANICALT® PERFORMANCE DATA enaece 159 TYPICAL APPLICATIONS FOR FiG. 58 THREADED SiDE BEAM BRACKET Shown I'lere flanging up to 4" Pipe with Lag Bolt MECHANICAL -T "CROS" Cross connections can be achieved with Style 920 or 929 Mechanical -T. my by utilizing two Upper Housings of the same size, with the same or differing branch size connections.
