I am recommending the following appointment and reappointments as outlined below. Applications are attached for your review. Arts Commission Position 1: Pat Bako was recently appointed to this position on August 15, 2022. As she was recently appointed, I did not require her to submit a reappointment application and am recommending she be reappointed for an additional term. Her new term will expire December 31, 2026. Position 2: Sheila Coppola has served in this position since May 16, 2016 and is interested in continuing to serve in this capacity. I am recommending she be reappointed for an additional term. Her new term will expire December 31, 2026. Equity and Social Justice Commission Position 6: Joe Duffie has served in this community position since August 20, 2018 and is interested in continuing to serve in this capacity. I am recommending he be reappointed for an additional term. His new term will expire December 31, 2025. Position 9: This was recently vacated. I am recommending the appointment of Kristen Schwabe - Fry to this position. Kristen works at the University of Washington and leads a diverse team of software developers conducting scientific research to analyze problems and build creative and pragmatic solutions. Her term will expire December 31, 2025. Human Services Advisory Board Position 1: Terra Straight has served in this resident position since August 20, 2007 and is interested in continuing to serve in this capacity. I am recommending she be reappointed for an additional term. Her new term will expire December 31, 2025. Position 2: This School District Representative position is currently vacant. I am recommending the appointment of Julie Herdt, Quality Engagement Specialist for Elementary Students and Families for the Tukwila School District. Her term will expire December 31, 2025. Library Advisory Board Position 2: Steve Miller has served in this resident position since September 15, 2003 and is interested in continuing to serve in this capacity. I am recommending he be reappointed for an additional term. His new term will expire December 31, 2025. Position 4: Gerie Ventura has served in this resident position since July 16, 2012 and is interested in continuing to serve in this capacity. As a Parks Commissioner, I'd like to continue to help make my community a better place to live, work, and recreate in. To help advocate for and pursue more open space. To support programs like Green Tukwila as both a Commissioner and a Land Steward, in order to restore native habitat on land and in the water, especially the Duwamish River. I'm also a long-time member of the Duwamish Hill Preserve Friends of the Hill restoration crew, and served on the Management team as DHP was being developed and constructed. They are one of the few places that residents can receive services regardless of financial status and are a safe haven for children and those at risk in our communities.
