GENERAL NOTES:
1. ALL DOORS IN THE CLEAN AGENT HAZARD AREA SHALL HAVE DOOR CLOSURES, DOOR SWEEPS AND DOOR SEALS. (BY OTHERS )
2. THE DISCHARGE TIME OF THE SYSTEM SHALL NOT EXCEED 10 SECOND. THE PROTECTED VOLUME IS TO BE FLOODED AT A 4.2%
CONCENTRATION UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON THE SYSTEM DRAWINGS AND HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS. THE HAZARD AREA
SHALL MAINTAIN A 4.2% CONCENTRATION FOR A MINIMUM OF 10 MIN.
3. THE CLEAN AGENT CONTROL PANEL SHALL HAVE BATTERY BACK-UP TO PROVIDE 24 HOURS OF STANDBY OPERATION WITH 5
MINUTES OF ALARM UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE ON THE DRAWINGS AND THE BATTERY CALCULATIONS.
4. INTERLOCK WIRING AND CONDUIT TO SHUTDOWN THE HVAC SYSTEM AND/OR DAMPERS (IF REQUIRED) WILL BE WIRED BY
OTHERS. SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS INC. WILL PROVIDE RELAY CONTACTS LOCATED IN THE CLEAN AGENT CONTROL PANEL.
5. INTERLOCK WIRING AND CONDUIT TO CONNECT TO THE REMOTE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM (IF REQUIRED) SHALL BE PROVIDED BY
OTHERS. SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS INC. WILL PROVIDE RELAY CONTACTS LOCATED IN THE CLEAN AGENT CONTROL PANEL.
6. INTERLOCK WIRING AND CONDUIT TO SHUTDOWN EQUIPMENT (IF REQUIRED) SHALL BE PROVIDED BY OTHERS. SUPPRESSION
SYSTEMS INC. WILL PROVIDE RELAY CONTACTS LOCATED IN THE CLEAN AGENT CONTROL PANEL.
7. THE CLEAN AGENT HAZARD AREA SHALL BE SEALED TO PREVENT LEAKAGE OF THE AGENT. (BY OTHERS )
SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS INC. WILL PROVIDE GUIDANCE AND/OR SUPERVISION.
8. THE 120VAC CIRCUIT FOR THE CLEAN AGENT CONTROL PANEL SHALL BEA DEDICATED CIRCUIT WITH A LOCK -OUT DEVICE ON
THE BREAKER SWITCH TO COMPLY WITH NFPA 72 CURRENT ADDITION.
9. ALL TERMINATION'S IN THE CLEAN AGENT CONTROL PANEL SHALL BE PERFORMED BY SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS INC.
CLEAN AGENT PIPING SYSTEM NOTES :
1. REFER TO SYSTEM DRAWINGS AND CALCULATIONS FOR THE LOCATION AND LAYOUT OF THE CLEAN AGENT DISTRIBUTION PIPING
SYSTEM. EXAMINE THE CONFIGURATION OF THE PIPING SYSTEM TO ENSURE THE PIPING AND DISCHARGE NOZZLES DO NOT
INTERFERE WITH ANY ON SITE PHYSICAL OBSTRUCTIONS WITHIN THE CLEAN AGENT HAZARD AREA BEFORE THE PIPING INSTALLATION
BEGINS. SHOULD ANY CONFLICTS OCCUR NOTIFY SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS INC. TO MAKE THE REQUIRED ADJUSTMENTS TO THE
SYSTEM DRAWINGS AND HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS PRIOR TO BEGINNING PIPING INSTALLATION. ANY DEVIATIONS IN THE
ROUTING OF THE PIPE NETWORK SHALL BE VERIFIED AND APPROVED BY SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS INC.
2. CLEAN AGENT SUPPRESSION SYSTEM SHALL BE INSTALLED AND TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 2001 CURRENT ADDITION,
AS WELL AS ALL APPLICABLE LOCAL CODES.
3. PIPING MATERIAL MUST CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OUTLINED IN NFPA 2001 , CURRENT EDITION.
SCHEDULE 40 OR SCHEDULE 80 PIPE (BLACK OR GALVANIZED) MUST CONFORM TO ASTM A53 OR A106. ORDINARY CAST IRON
PIPE, STEEL PIPE CONFORMING TO ASTM -120, OR NONMETALLIC PIPE SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED TO BE USED.
4. PIPE FITTINGS MUST CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OUTLINED IN NFPA 2001 , CURRENT EDITION. MALLEABLE
IRON FITTINGS (BLACK OR GALVANIZED) SHALL BE 300 LB. CLASS THAT CONFORM TO ASTM SPECIFICATION A-197. 150 LB. CLASS
FITTINGS AND ORDINARY CAST IRON FITTINGS ARE NOT PERMITTED. ONLY LISTED GROOVED , THREADED , WELDED OR
FLANGED FITTINGS MAY BE USED , PROVIDED THEY CONFORM TO THE ABOVE REQUIREMENTS. HOLE CUT FITTINGS
MAY NOT BE USED.
5. ALL PIPE JOINING METHODS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 2001 CURRENT ADDITION. TEFLON TAPE IS RECOMMENDED
AND SHALL BE USED WITH ALL THREADED PIPING CONNECTIONS. THREADED PIPE AND FITTINGS SHALL BE TAPERED
IN CONFORMANCE WITH ANSI SPECIFICATION B-20.1. ALL GROOVED PIPING CONNECTIONS SHALL BE BE LUBRICATED PER
MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS.
6. ALL PIPING MUST BE RIGIDLY SUPPORTED BY A COMBINATION OF PIPE HANGERS AND RIGID SUPPORT BRACKETS. PIPE HANGERS
ARE USED TO SUPPORT THE " DEAD LOAD " OF THE PIPING SYSTEM AND SHALL BE SPACED AT INTERVALS NOT EXCEEDING 15
FEET. RIGID SUPPORTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUPPORT THE " LIVE LOAD " OF THE PIPING SYSTEM DURING DISCHARGE. RIGID
BRACING IS REQUIRED AT EACH DIRECTIONAL CHANGE - 90° ELBOW, TEE AND NOZZLE. ALL 180° NOZZLES REQUIRE BACK -BRACING
IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE DISCHARGE PATTERN. EARTHQUAKE BRACING SHALL BE USED WHERE REQUIRED BY LOCAL
CODE. REFER TO ANSI 831.1 FOR BRACING REQUIREMENTS.
7. REDUCTIONS IN PIPE SIZE SHALL BE DIRECTLY AFTER A TEE WITH THE TEE BEING THE SAME PIPE SIZE AS THE INLET LINE TO THE
TEE. REDUCTIONS IN PIPE SIZE MAY ALSO BE MADE USING A CONCENTRIC BELL REDUCER AFTER A UNION, PROVIDED THE NEXT
CHANGE IN DIRECTION (TEE) IS LOCATED A MINIMUM OF 10 PIPE DIAMETERS DOWNSTREAM OF THE CONCENTRIC BELL
REDUCER. CONCENTRIC BELL REDUCERS OR CONCENTRIC REDUCING COUPLINGS SHALL BE USED TO MAKE ALL REDUCTIONS
IN PIPE SIZE. REDUCING BUSHINGS, WELD -O -LETS AND HOLE CUT FITTINGS SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED.
8. THE SYSTEM SHALL BE INSTALLED IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER WITH " GOOD COMMERCIAL PRACTICE ". ALL PIPING AND
FITTINGS MUST BE REAMED , BLOWN CLEAN AND SWABBED WITH A CLEANING SOLVENT TO REMOVE DIRT , RUST
AND OIL.
9. PIPE REDUCTIONS MADE DIRECTLY AFTER A CHANGE IN DIRECTION , WITH THE FITTING BEING THE SAME PIPE SIZE AS THE INLET ,
SHALL BE MADE USING A COMMON CONCENTRIC BELL REDUCER. REDUCING BUSHINGS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE ( UNLESS
OTHERWISE NOTED ). A MINIMUM OF 10 PIPE DIAMETERS MUST BE MAINTAINED FROM THE CENTER OF THE FITTING TO THE
CENTER OF THE NEXT CHANGE IN DIRECTION.
10. WHEN BRACING THE PIPING CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO INSURE THE NOZZLE LOCATIONS ARE WITHIN ONE FOOT OF THE
LOCATIONS SHOWN ON THE SYSTEM PLANS. CORRECT NOZZLES SHALL BE INSTALLED EXACTLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
SYSTEM PLANS AND THE DEFLECTOR SET SCREW SHALL BE IN PLACE DURING A SYSTEM DISCHARGE OR THE AGENT
DISTRIBUTION AND THE SYSTEMS ABILITY TO SUPPRESS A FIRE MAY BE ADVERSELY AFFECTED. NOZZLES SHALL BE INSTALLED
PERPENDICULAR TO THE CEILING FOR PROPER DISTRIBUTION PATTERNS. 180° NOZZLES SHALL BE ALIGNED WITH THE ORIFICE
HOLES ORIENTED PARALLEL TO THE ADJACENT WALLS SO NO DIRECT WALL IMPINGEMENT OF THE AGENT OCCURS.
11. FINAL INSTALLATION ACCEPTANCE SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 2001 CURRENT ADDITION.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NOTES
1. THE DETECTION AND CONTROLS PORTION OF THE SYSTEM SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE
WITH NFPA 70, 72 AND STATE AND LOCAL CODES WHERE APPLICABLE.
2. ALL WIRING FOR THE CLEAN AGENT SUPPRESSION SYSTEM SHALL BE INSTALLED IN MINIMUM OF 1/2"
ELECTRICAL METALLIC TUBING (EMT) OR CONDUIT.
3. INITIATING AND RELEASING CIRCUITS SHALL BE INSTALLED N RACEWAYS. ( NFPA 2001 )
4. AC AND DC CURRENT SHALL BE RUN IN SEPARATE CONDUIT AND BOXES.
5. PAINT ALL J -BOXES AND COVERS RED TO IDENTIFY FIRE ALARM SYSTEM.
6. IDENTIFY EACH COVER WITH POWER LIMITED FIRE ALARM CKT.
7. MAINTAIN 1" SEPARATION BETWEEN ALL POWER LIMITED AND NON POWER LIMITED CIRCUITS.
8. CONTROL SYSTEM SHALL BE INSTALLED AND TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 72 ,
AS WELL AS ALL APPLICABLE LOCAL CODES.
9. SMOKE DETECTORS SHALL BE LOCATED NO CLOSER THAN 3 FEET TO AN AIR SUPPLY OUTLET.
ALL SMOKE DETECTORS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN AN ACCESSIBLE LOCATION TO ALLOW FUTURE
TESTING AND SERVICE.
10. WHEN 17 AMP BATTERIES ARE USED THERE SHALL BE NO PENETRATIONS THROUGH THE BOTTOM
OF THE CONTROL PANEL.
11. AIR HANDLING DAMPERS SHALL SHUT DOWN WHEN CLEAN AGENT SYSTEM IS IN THE PRE -DISCHARGE
CONDITION.
EXCLUSIONS
**WORK LISTED BELOW SHALL BE PROVIDED BY OTHERS OR UNDER OTHER SECTIONS OF THE PROJECT.**
1. 120 VAC POWER SUPPLY TO THE CLEAN AGENT CONTROL PANEL.
2. TELEPHONE LINES FOR REMOTE MONITORING.
3. INTERLOCK WIRING AND CONDUIT FOR SHUTDOWN OF HVAC , DAMPERS AND/OR ELECTRIC POWER
SUPPLIES , RELAYS , SHUNT TRIP BREAKERS OR OTHER DEVICES.
4. CONNECTION TO LOCAL OR REMOTE FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS OR LISTED CENTRAL ALARM STATION.
5. ALL MATERIALS AND LABOR TO ENSUE THE " AIR -TIGHTNESS " OF THE PROTECTED SPACE(S) AND
RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE INTEGRITY OF THE CLEAN AGENT PROTECTED SPACE TO SATISFY THE
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE TEN (10) MINUTE RETENTION TIME. SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS INC. MAY
PROVIDE ASSISTANCE , BY MEANS OF INSPECTION OF THE SPACE AND MAKING RECOMMENDATIONS
ON REMEDIAL ACTIONS THAT MAY BE REQUIRED TO ENSURE ROOM INTEGRITY.
