AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
AND THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO TAKE IMMEDIATE
ACTION TO HAVE THE RUPTURED WATER LINE SERVING
SOUTHCENTER SOUTH REPAIRED.
WHEREAS, on July 21, 1978, it was discovered that the 12 inch water
line serving the Southcenter South complex within the City of Tukwila had
severely ruptured at a point where it traverses the Green River, thereby
causing a loss of water to the area; and
WHEREAS, said loss of water poses a hazard to the health, safety,
and welfare of the persons and property of the area served by said water
main; and
WHEREAS, it is essential for the City to restore service to said
water main as soon as possible; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that immediate action is necessary
pursuant to RCW 35A.33.080 and RCW 38.52.070 (2).
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
The City Council of the City of Tukwila, acting at a
Special Meeting in response to an emergency situation, in
order to perserve and protect the public health, safety, and
welfare, hereby authorizes the Mayor and the Public Works
Director to make such arrangements as are necessary to
repair or replace said broken water mains.
The City Council further authorizes the expenditure
of not more than $15,000 from the Water Fund for said
repair or replacement.
This ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation
of the public health, safety and welfare and shall take effect
immediately upon its passage.
