The following commissioners attended the regularly scheduled meeting of the Tukwila Civil Service
Commission: Ron Johnston and Kathleen Wilson. Others in attendance were Deputy Police Chief Eric Dreyer,
Battalion Chief Don Tomaso, Interim HR Director Bill Kolden, and Michelle Godyn, HR Analyst/Civil Service
Examiner.

Commissioner Holiday Social
Commissioner Ron Johnston called the meeting to order at 4:58 pm.
The November 13, 2018, minutes were approved. No corrections were
noted.
Michelle Godyn, Civil Service Examiner, provided revised copies
the adoption of Civil Service Rule III Section 2 amending the
Secretary and Chief Examiner duties.
MOVED BY JOHNSTON, SECONDED BY WILSON TO ADOPT
CIVIL SERVICE RULES III SECTION 2 AMENDING THE
DUTIES OF SECRETARY AND CHIEF EXAMINER.
Michelle Godyn, Civil Service Examiner, provided 2019 Schedule of
Civil Service Commission Meeting Calendar.
Michelle Godyn, Civil Service Examiner reminded Commissioners to
RSVP to the City of Tukwila Commissioner Holiday Social being held on
December 18, 2018.
POLICE DEPARTMENT BUSINESS
Staffing Update
Certified Eligibility List for
Deputy Police Chief Eric Dreyer presented the Commission a staffing
update. He reported the Police department has 59 out of 78
commissioned police officer positions. There are 3 Lateral Officers in
background, 1 Lateral Officer completed FTO and 2 extended in FTO. 5
Lateral Police Officers in background and 3 Officers in light duty and 1
Officer will be release to full duty. 2 Entry Level Police Officer in
background. Non -Commissioned Officers 19 positions and 17 full duty,
2 Police Records Specialist vacancy, tentative offer made to Lea Park
and Ambra Durbin.
It is to be recorded that the Lateral Police Officer's Eligibility List was

Staffing Update
ADJOURNMENT
OF REGULAR MEETING
certified outside of a regular meeting commencing November 26 and
November 28, 2018 or until depleted. Tentative offer made to Michael
Norris, Monroe Jones, and Lisa McGhaw. Each candidate going through
first phase of background process.
MOVED BY WHEELER, SECOND BY WILSON THAT THE
ELIGIBILITY LIST BE CERTIFIED AND BE VALID FOR ONE
YEAR COMMENCING NOVEMBER 26 and NOVEMBER 28,
2018 OR UNTIL DEPLETED. MOTION PASSED.
Battalion Chief Don Tamaso presented the Commission a staffing
update. He reported 18 full and 17 admin staff. Entry Level Firefighter
recruitment, 4 Firefighter recruits in the Fire Academy, 1 recruit failed
the Academy and 3 vacancy for Entry Level Firefighter. Conditional
offers were made to Jamie Steinbacher and William Naemura. Both
candidates are in final backgrounds phase. James Dunkley requested via
email to be reinstated. Commissioner accepted email and to fill with
current vacancy without reinstatement.

REGULAR MEETING BE ADJOURN. MOTION CARRIED.
