Value of Construction — In all cases, a value of construction amount should be entered by the applicant. This figure will be
reviewed and is subject to possible revision by the Fire Marshal to comply with current fee schedules.
Expiration of Plan Review -Every permit issued shall become invalid unless the work on the site authorized by such permit
is commenced within 180 days after its issuance, or if the work authorized on the site by such permit is suspended or
abandoned for a period of 180 days after the time the work is commenced. The Fire Marshal is authorized to grant, in
writing, one or more extensions of time, for periods not more than 180 days each. The extension shall be requested in writing
and justifiable cause demonstrated.

8.3 LOCATION OF SPRINKLERS:
8.3.1 Sprinklers shall be installed in all areas except where omission is permitted by 8.3.2 through 8.3.8.
8.3.2 Sprinklers shall not be required in bathrooms of 55 ft2 and less.
8.3.3 Sprinklers shall not be required in clothes closets, linen closets, and pantries that meet all of the following conditions: (1)
The area of the space does not exceed 24 ft2. (2) The walls and ceilings are surfaced with noncombustible or
limited -combustible materials as defined in NFPA 220.
8.3.4 Sprinklers shall not be required in garages, open attached porches, carports, and similar structures.
8.3.5 Sprinklers shall not be required in attics with or without storage, penthouse equipment rooms, elevator machine rooms,
concealed spaces dedicated exclusively to and containing only dwelling unit ventilation equipment, floor/ceiling spaces, elevator
shafts, crawl spaces, and other concealed spaces that are not used or intended for living purposes.
8.3.6 Sprinklers shall not be required in covered, unheated projections of the building at entrances/exits as long as the dwelling
unit has another means of egress.
8.3.7 Sprinklers shall not be required for ceiling pockets that meet the following conditions: (1) The total volume of all
unprotected ceiling pockets in a compartment does not exceed 100 ft3. (2) The entire floor under the unprotected ceiling
pocket is protected by the sprinklers at the lower ceiling elevation. (3) The interior finish of the unprotected ceiling pocket
excluding decorative treatments is noncombustible or limited -combustible material. (4) Skylights not exceeding 32 ft2 shall be
permitted to have a plastic cover.
8.3.8 Sprinklers shall not be required in closets in garages and exterior closets (regardless of size) located on exterior
balconies, exterior breezeways/corridors, or accessed from outdoors where the closet does not have doors or unprotected
penetrations directly into the dwelling unit.
8.3.9 Sprinklers shall be installed in any closet used for heating and/or air-conditioning equipment, washers and/or dryers, or
water heaters except as allowed by 8.3.8.

HAZARD CLASSIFICATION:

PIPING DETAILS:
All aboveground piping denoted with only the pipe diameter to be CPVC plastic with CPVC fittings
except as noted on the riser detail.
SUPPLY:
A new 1" tap runs approx. 30' to a new 1" combination dom/fire meter. 11/2" Poly underground
continues approx. 57' to a 1" male threaded adapter left by others in the water heater closet.
All underground by others. Moore Fire's scope of work to begin at 1" male threaded adapter left
by others, DCVA and riser to be 1".
GENERAL NOTES AND LIABILITY:
All system piping is to be supported per manufacturer's specifications and is to be secured to
prevent lateral movement. Pipe is to be secured to prevent sprinkler head movement.
Moore Fire Protection's warranty of work does not cover any damage due to freeze related
problems. Wet piping shall be protected against temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
Insulation installed for this purpose shall be located on the cold side of the pipe only with no
insulation on the warm side of the pipe facing the heated interior. Coordinate with general
and/or insulation contractor. All insulation to be by others.
Moore Fire Protection shall not be responsible for the ability of the structure to adequately
support the fire sprinkler system or any appurtenances thereof.
Owner is responsible for the periodic inspection, testing and maintenance of the water based fire
protection system(s) in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 12 of NFPA 13D.
