Crawley Fire Chief January 16, 1987 Cartland Alarm 30459 Military Road South Federal Way, Wa. 98003 Re: Equitec - 509 Industry Drive, #13 Dear Sir: The fire alarm system plans affixed hereto have been reviewed and accepted as meeting or exceeding minimum requirements of the City of Tukwila Fire Department, Bureau of Fire Prevention, with the following notes: 1. Maintain square foot coverage of detectors per manufacturer's specifications in all areas including; closets, elevator shafts, top of stairwells, etc. (NFPA 72A, 1-2.2 & NFPA 72E) 2. Wire shall be in conduit or be UL listed Fire Protective Signaling Circuit Cable. (NFPA 72A, 2-2.1) 3. Remote indicator lights are required on all above ceiling smoke detectors. 4. A rechargeable battery back-up is required on any fire alarm installation. There shall be enough battery capacity to run the alarm system in standby for twenty-four (24) hours and, after that time, sound all alert devices for at least five (5) minutes. (NFPA 72A, 2-3.4.2) 5. All restrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, boiler rooms or any room where there is apt to be moisture, shall have fixed temperature heat detectors installed. These detectors should have replaceable links for testing purposes. 6. A satisfactory contract covering the maintenance, operation and efficiency of the system shall be provided by the property owner. The contract shall provide for periodic inspection and tests, for proper maintenance service, and for service following operation of the system and shall be acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction. Maintain square foot coverage of detectors per manufacturer's specifications in all areas including; closets, elevator shafts, top of stairwells, etc. (NFPA 72A, 1-2.2 & NFPA 72E) 2. Local UL Central Station supervision is required. (City Ordinance #1327) 3. Remote indicator lights are required on all above ceiling smoke detectors. 4. A rechargeable battery back-up is required on any fire alarm installation.
