Dear Al,
In reviewing the above mentioned project plans, please
note the following items:
I. Per UFC Section 12.104(b), EXIT doors shall
be openable from the inside without the use
of a key or any special knowledge or effort.
2. Per UFC Section 12.113(b), at every required
exit doorway, and wherever otherwise required
to clearly indicate the direction of egress,
an EXIT sign with letters at least six inches
high and readily distinguishable shall be
maintained.
3. Walls are to be fire stopped per UBC Section
2517(f)
4. Fire extinguishers shall be provided per
NFPA #10, as a minimum requirement.
One dry chemical fire extinguisher rated 2 -A,
10 B:C is required.
5. Per NFPA requirements, extinguishers with a
gross weight of 40 pounds or less shall be
hung so that the top of the extinguisher is
not higher than 60 inches above the floor.
Units weighing more than 40 pounds shall be not
higher than 42 inches above the floor.
Extinguishers shall be located so as to be in
plain view (if at all possible), or if not in
plain view, they shall be identified with a
sign stating, "Fire Extinguisher with an
arrow pointing to the unit.
