HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-01-15 Adjourned MinutesJanuary 15, /962 The recessed meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor Charles 0. Baker at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.R. Radford, E.W. Ives and Jerry Hamilton. T here was some discussion regarding a proposed grading ordinance. Mr Mrs. Max Mohr, discussed with the council a request for annexation Mr. Hodge discussed with them there intents and purposes of being annexed with Tukwila. Mr. Hamilton moved council accept the petition for annexation, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. Mayor Baker requested Mr. Mohr prepare an annexation petition and present it to 6 Mr. Wes Hodge our attorney. After it has received his approval the council will G' set a date for public hearing on Request for annexation. 1 Mayor Baker read a letter received from John Gratiam and Company in regard to duplication of Light Service. Mr. Minkler read a letter received from Seattle City Light on the above mentioned duplication of light service. Council recommmended, the attorney prepare an ordinance on duplication. Mr. Minkler moved ordinance 353 relating to the scope of exsi ing lectric public utility franeises be placed on it's first reading, seconded by Z er and carried. Mr. Minkler moved that ordinance 353 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. 2 Mr. Minkler moved that ordinance 353 be placed on its third and final passage, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. Minkler moved that in the future all ordinances be published and advertized in 0 an accredited publication, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mayor Baker requested Wes Hodge to follow through on the above mentioned publishing of ordinances, with bids to be placed in the Daily Journal Mr. David Diehl from Harsbad Associates recommended conditional acceptance of water and sewer L.I.D. from Shoreline Construction Co. extended performance Bond, assures us of full protection for a 1 year period dating from June of '62 June '63. The council instructed Mr. Diehl to work with Mr. Robert Wing from Puget Western and make certian, that necessary funds are withheld from Shoreline Construction Co., to insure the necessary street repairs. The council in discussing the type of repair, that would be acceptable to the City would require al; areas of stf'eet failures over utilities, be properly compacted street intirely resurfaced. Mr. Ives moved council aecept Mr. Diehl's motion, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. Mr. Robert Wing of Puget Western will discuss the building code with Z eorge Long. Mayor Baker appointed a committee headed by Mr. Radford to work on the grading ordinance, this to be reviewed by Mr. John Strander. A recent flood control bond issue is not being funtioned properly, e affeemept, we have not been assisted, prior to 1959. we will be assisted now, but at a cost of 50 23 1` Mr. Minkler suggested we publize that we are being taxed double, contary to the bond issue agreement. Mr. Minkler moved that Mayor Baker use his own judgemnet, as to how to handle this problem. Four current bills were examined and vouchers signed.' Mr.:J nKier -moved aIltbills be approved and warrants drawn up for their reepeetive amounts, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried.
