HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-02-19 Adjourned MinutesThe recessed meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor
Charles 0. Baker, at 8:00P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.G. Radford
R.K. Doyle E.W. Ives and Jerry Hamilton also presnt were all candadates running in
the general election.
Mayor Baker congratulated Mr. Strander on the arrival of a son born to Mr.& Mrs
Strander on Sunday February 18, 1962.
Arrangements were made at this time to pay Mrs. Frey, for handling the fire phone,
also Mr. Zepp was requested to prepare a bill for 1 space heater sold to the City.
Mayor B aker read a lettdr from Harstad Associates regarding final payment due to
Shoreline Construction Co. Mr. Minkler pointed out that all but 15% has been paid
to tae Construction Co. Mr. Minkler moved that the final payment be withheld until
complete repair has been made in the damaged street area of Andover Park. Seconded
by Mr. Doyle and carried.

into full operation at the Lagoon site.
Mr. Wing discussed his findings of the street repair necessary in the Industrial
Park. Eventual solution to this problem was discussed at length with the Council

Mayor Baker read a letter concerning taking of the census of the City. Mayor Baker
stated that in the past Wynn Anderson and his wife have taken the census for the
City. Mr. Doyle moved that the Mayor appoint them to do so again this year, seconded
by Mr. Ives and carried.
A letter and copies of Ordinance 1928 were received fron the City of Renton, in regard
to deannexation of tertian property. This will be placed on file in the Clerk's office.
Mr. Minkler moved that Ordinance 355, relating to fuel oil storage be placed on its
first reading, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr. Minkler moved that ordinance 03551
be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. Minkler
moved that ordinance 355 be placed on its third and final passage, seconded by Mr.i'
Doyle and carried.

The City Clerk read a letter received from Governor Albert D. Rosellini. wherein he
stated that the week of 5�� 7 to May 11 would be Washington Week at the coming World's
Fair. The date of May 11 ao be set aside as Tukwila Day. Arrangements will be made
for Mr. Mrs Strander (our new Mayor to attend.
Three current bills were examined and vouchers signed. Mr. Minkler moved that all
bills be approved and warrants drawn up for their respective amounts, seconded by
Mr. Doyle and carried.
Advertizments of Public Hearing for Annexation will be placed in the Renton Chronicle
Also for Publication will be the Public Hearing on Rezoning.
Mr. Minkler read a recommendation from the Tukwila Planning Commission on the above
mentioned rezoning. F. Mipkler moved that Council accept .the-recommendations of the i
Planning Commission,seconded by Mr. Radford and carried. f'
March 12, 1962.at.8 :00 P.M. is the date set for both Public Hearings.
Mr. Ives stated that the Beautification Committe would like to have permission to
erect a flag pole in front of the U.S. Post office. A letter requesting this per-
mission will be sent to Mr. McKay of the Highway Dept.
Mr. Minkler, Mr. Radford and Mr. Long will meet with Mr. Crostick and Mr. Lutes
discuss the possibilities of improving a piece of property on 5 f,h avenue.Y
Mr. Doyle moved that Council adjourn, seconded by Mr. Hamilton,and carried
