HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-06-18 Adjourned Minutes June 18, 1962 The recessed meeting of the Tukwila City County was called to order by the Mayor John B. Strander at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler A.G. Radford E.W. Ives Jerry Hamilton R.K. Doyle Bill Aliment and Richard A. Bowen. Mr. Aliment reported on Fire Works. Mr. Hamilton read a letter received from the Tukwila Fire Department, wherein application was made to sell fire works in Tukwila at a stand to be located at 13310 Interurban South. Mr. Hamilton moved that Council approve this application for safe and sane fire works, seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. Mr. Ives moved that Ordinance No. 3613 relating to a rezone be placed on its I° first reading, seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. Mr. Ives moved that Ordinance no. 363 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried Mr. Hamilton moved that Ordinance no. 363 be placed om its third and final passage seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. Mr. Kay Reed from Harstad Associates read to Council a proposal in regards to their Engineering capabilities. Mr. Sleavin from Sleavin Associates also talked with council in regard to Engineering projects. This will be reviewed by Mr. Hamilton, Mr. Radfordd& Mr. Minkler. Mr. Paul Priebe from the Union Pacific Railway, discussed with council the possibility of storage and maintenance of an old locomotive within the City of Tukwila. Speaking for the residents of 42nd Avenue and Interurban Avenue South. Mr. Sweeney discussed the possibility of a traffic light at this particular corner. Mr. Minkler suggested that the residents first contact Mr. Paul Mc Kay of the Highway Department. Mr. Sweeney will report back to the council after contacting Mr. Mc Kay. Mr. Paritte of Red White Construction Co. discussed at length with council his plans for excavating at Interurban and 149th Street. Mr. Minkler read a letter received from Judge Phillips, wherein Judge Phillips recommended that Mrs. Balk be appointed as Municipal Clerk. whereon Mayor Strander appointed Mrs. Balk. Mr, Minkler moved that council accept Mayor Stranders appointment, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. Ray Reed discussed with council the water sewer lines in Andover Park in conjunction with the hew streets to be built in the future. Mr. Hamilton moved that Harstad continue with their specifications, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. Mr. Reed suggested that Mayor Strander be authorized to sign State Applications for the preliminary engineering and relocation of water sewer lines. Mr. Hamilton reported on a recent water and sewer meeting. Mr. Zepp turned over to council a specification for a new Water Department truck. Bids will be drafted and advertized. Mr. Hamilton moved that bids be ready for Augest 6th meet g, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. Mr. Minkler moved that the two bibs approved by the finance committee be allowed and warrents drawn up for their respective amounts, seconded by Mr. Radford and carried. The meeting was recessed til Monday June 25 at 7:30 P.M.
