The recessed meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor,
John B. Strander at 7:30 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, E.W. Ives,
Jerry A. Hamilton, Richard Bowen and Wm. Aliment.
The first order of business was the proposed location of the frontage road along
highway 241 in the vicinity of Renton Junction, Tukwila.
Council approved the frontage read as shown on the drawing submitted by the State ,\C
Highway Department.
Mr. Aliment pointed out that when this road becomes a public road one lane must be
kept open at all times for east bound traffic and one lane for west bound traffic.
Mr. Ray Reed of Harstad Associates prelsented a set of specifications on the LID Sewer
and Water lines in Andover Park.
Mr. Reed stated that when inspections are necessary they-will be made by either Mr.
Eugene D'Iorio or Mr. Reed himself.
Mr. Strander stated that the City would advertise for bids on this project. The bids
will be opened at the City Clerk's office at 7:30 P.M., Monday July 30, 1962.
Mr. Reed will study the bids, making the award on August 6, 1962. The contractor will
have ten days(10) in which to put up a Performance Bond. Notice to proceed to be issued
by Harstad Associates Office. The contractor will then have 60 days in which to
complete the work.
Mayor Strander stated that he had received a letter from the State Highway Department
approving the hiring of Harstad Associates$ as Engineers for the City of Tukwila; that
an agreement would be forthcoming.
Mayor Strander reported that he had received a letter from Mr. Todd regarding the slope
on the excavations on Interurban Avenue. Mr. Todd feels that the slope is too steep, and
suggests that something be done about this matter, as it is a hazard to children that
might play in the area.
Mr. Reed will discuss this with Mr. Hodge There being no further business for dis-
cussion the meeting was recessed until 8:00 P.M. July 16, 1962
