Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.G. Radford, E.W. Ives, R.K. Doyle and Jerry Hamilton. The minutes of the July meeting were read and approved as read. The current bills were examined and vouchers signed. Mr. Minkler moved that all bills approved by the finance committee be allowed and warrants drawn up for their respective amounts, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. CURRENT EXPENSE John B. Mr. George Long reported 5 building permits were issued in July. Mr. Radford reporting for the Street Committee, stated that sewers will be coming into the Tukwila area in the near future, therefore oiling of the streets was suggested, rather thee other extensive repair. Mr. Minkler reported for the water department. Mr. Hamilton reporting for the Sanitation Committee, read a letter received from Harstad associates in regard to the Water and Sewer LID Schedule 'It Mr. Hamilton moved that council approve Harstads recommendation of Frank Coluccio, as contractors for Water LID schedule #2, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. Fire Chief, Donald Leahy reported that there have been no fires along the rail- road tracks, since the letter was sent, to the officials asking their full coop- eration. The new fire engine has been accepted, ready for the 1st paymenr. Mr. Minkler reporting for the police dept., read Judge Phillips report. Mr. Doyle reported for Flood Control. Mr. Ives reported on the Park dept. Mr. Minkler read a letter from the Planning Commission in regard to a Borrow Pit and Lake, which the Highway Dept. proposed for the Tukwila area. The Planning Commission turned this proposal down, as the 11 acres involved should be used for Industrial Development. Mr. Regal reporting for the school Committee, stated that the blue prints for the new school have been accepted. Mr. Hamilton reported on licenses, and Mr. Doyle reported on Metro. An annexation petition was received in council chambers, this to be studied by council, to be reported on at the council meeting of August 20, 1962. Mr. Strander read a letter in regard to the pole line on 57th Avenue A. and south 154th. A permit is to be issued before this pole can be erected. Mr. Nelson, from Seattle City Light read a letter to council in regard to application for a permit to erect poles on water right of way at 57th Avenue South and 160th Street. Mr. Hodge, attorney for the City of Tukwila, discussed at length with council the crossing of 57th Avenue S., if the lines are temporary it will be permissable to place them overhead. August 6 1962(Con't) Mr. David Diehl read a report from Harstad Associates in regard to the boundaries of the power service in the Industrial Park area, it was suggested that the City of Tukwila act in accordance to Ordinance 353 relating to utilities. Mr. Cheatham of Puget Power read a reply to Harstad's letter as did Mr. Nelson of Seattle City Light. This will be taken under advisement by the council. Mayor Strander asked Mr. Nelson if Seattle City Light had a signed contract from South Center, in which the reply was no. Mr. Hanson presented to council a plat for additional building. Bids for the Water Department truck were opened, Mr. Minkler moved that council poseponadthis action until August 13, 1962, seconded by Mr. Radford and carried.( The meeting was recessed to re- convene Monday August 13, 1962 at 8:00 P.M.
