The regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor
John B. Strander at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, R.K. Doyle,
E.W. Ives, Jerry A. Hamilton, Richard Bowen and William Aliment.
The minutes of the September meeting were read and approved as read.
The current bills were examined and vouchers signed. Mr. Minkler moved that all
bills approved by the finance committee be allowed and warrants drawn up for their
respective amounts, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried.

The Treasurer's report was read and accepted as read. The water peport was read
and placed on file.
Mr. Long reported 8 building permits issued for the monthw of September.
Mayor Strander read a letter to council, received from Mr. Mac Mullen in regard
to street vacation, specifically portions of 154th and 57th Avenue.
Mr Long reporting for the street department, stated that 2 of the streets slated
for repair were ready for this repair.
Mr. Minkler reported for the water department. Mr. Hamilton reported for Sanitation.
Mr. Hamilton stated that the payment of L.I.D 3 to Frank Coluccio, has been
approved by Harstad Associates. Mr. Hamilton read a letter from Mr. Ehrlichman,
City Attorney in regard to the amount of payment. This was discussed with Mr. Reed
city Engineer, this will be taken under advisment til the meeting of October 15, 1962.
Mr. Aliment reporting for the fire department, presented a check to the City in the
amount of $5,000.00, this will be kept in a special fund as stipulated in resolution
154.
Judge Phillips reported for the police department.
Mr. Minkler read a letter from Mr. Hodge in regard to the civil service exams to
be given.
Mr. Minkler moved that Ordinance 365 relating to civil service be placed on its
first reading, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried.
Mr. Doyle moved that Ordinance 365 be placed on its second reading, seconded by
Mr. Aliment and carried.
Mr. Doyle moved that Ordinance 1' 365 be placed on its third and final passage,
seconded by Mr. Ives and carried.
Mr. Doyle reported for Flood Control. Mr. Bowen reported on Buildings and Grounds.
Mr. Ives reporting for the Parks and Beautification Committee, stated that a group
of ten people from Tukwila visited the Fair as a host City. A plaque was presented
to the City by Governor Rosellini.
Mr. Minkler reported for the Planning Commission.
Mr. Ives reporting schools had a meeting with Mr. Regal in regard to the new Tukwila
School. Mr. Regal stated that that bids for the new school will be accepted til Dec.
15, 1962 the Construction to be awarded in January 1963. The new school should be
completed in August 1963. It was brought up at this time that school district 403
would like to be annexed to school district 406. Mr. Ives was directed to look intro
this possibility.
Mr. Hamilton reported on Licenses. 'he metro report was given by Mr. Doyle.
Mr. Bowen reported that a petition is being circulated in the area wishing annexation
to Tukwila.
Mr. Doyle moved that Ordinance 366 relating to the 1963 budget be placed on its
first reading, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. Hamilton moved that Ordin ance
366 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. Mr. Doyle
moved that Ordinance 366 be placed on its third and final passage, seconded by Mr.
Aliment and carried.

Mr. Segale discussed with council a request to remove rock from a hill on
Interurban Avenue at about 146th Street. Mr. Segale would be reouested to post
a bond with the City Clerk. Mr. Segale was directed to contact the families in
that Area, as to there feelings of blasting to remove the rock. Mr. Segale will
report back to Council on Thursday Octlber 4, 1962 at 7 :30 P.Y.
Mr. Ives moved that Ordinance 367 relating to property tax be placed on its
first reading, seconded by Mr. Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. Ives moved that
Ordinance 367 be placed on its second reading seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried.
Mr. Minkler moved that Ordinance 361 be placed on its thirdx and final passage,
seconded by Mr. Ives and carried.
There being no further business for discussion council was recessed til
Thursday October 4, 1962 at 7:30 P.M.
