Gentlemen:
We have received plans for the proposed Riverview Plaza Office Building 11 3" and
have reviewed them for compliance with Chapters 23 through 29 of the Uniform
Building Code.
Comments
1. Indicate allowable soil bearing pressure and provide soils report for
verification if greater than 2,000 psf.
2. Provide special inspections for concrete, welding and high strength
(A325) bolting per UBC Section 306.
3. Interior footing 'B' appears to be inadequately reinforced. Provide
calculations.
4. Building appears to be inadequate to resist lateral forces:
a. Framing members and connections at braced frames (refer Elevation
2 /S -11) do not meet the requirements of UBC Section 2312(j)G.
b. Floor diaphragms appear to be inadequately nailed to resist lateral
loads per UBC Section 2312(j)I2D and Formula 12 -9. Provide calculations.
Please return for our review when the above questions have been answered.

Riverview Plaza Office Building "3" and have reviewed them for compliance with
Chapters 23 through 29 of the Uniform Building Code. Our comments follow:
1. Bolted connections at braced frames (refer Elevation 2 /S -11 and similar)
appear to be inadequate per UBC Section 2312(j)G.
2. Clarify number of bolts each side (far and near) at kerf plate to glu -lam
beam connection at Section 14/S -16.
3. Provide welding specifications in structural notes and /or specifications,
refer also to comment #2 of our previous review (see letter dated
October 22, 1981).
