January 7, 1963
The regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor,
John B. Strander at 0 :00 P.1 Councilmen present were `;tan l.inkler, :.0. Radford
T.T Ives Jerry Hamilton Richard Bowen and T illiam A1Tirn nt.
The minutes of the December meeting were read and approved as read. The current bills
were examined and vouchers signed. Mr. Minkler ^owed that all b lis aonroved by the
finance committee be allowed and warrants drawn for their respective amounts, seconded
by Mr. Ives and carried.

The treasurer's report was red and accepted as read. The report of the water dept.
was read and placed on-file.
r. Long reported on the building permits issued in December.
Mr. Radford reported for the Street Connittee. The State Pi y "enart.nent had
requested a route change in certain property within the City limits of Tuwila,
of which the Council approved, now still another chango has been requested, as this
second change will leave pronerty owners in euestion no access to the higheay
Aliment moved that council refuse the request, seconded by 'Tr. Ives a.nv carried.
Kinkier reporting for the water de flartnent stated that a new water lire has been
installed on 142nd Avenue South between 57th Street and 50th Street,.
Mr. namilton reported for the Sanitation Committee. meeting is scheduled for '''onddy
January 14, 1963 in the Tukwila Community Pall, in con jar 'c'. for wi-t' the ''error nrocrarn
for the City of Tukwila.
Mr. Aliment reported on the Fire Department. r. fink reported on the Police dept.
Judge Phillips gave a year end report on Traffic Court.
I's. Bowen reporting for Public Buildings and Croun:?s stated that the new police dept
work will commence about the second :-ee k of January e.lso that new gutters a.ve been
installed on the west side of the city hail building. hi hem received of
7550. for a new paint job on the City Fall.
11r. Ives reported on Parks. 'inkier reported fir the 'lanninF; Core :ssion.
hr. Ives reported on `'Dchools.
Hamilton reported for the License Comimittee. e
Bids for a new `street department truck will be advertised, the bids to be opened
at the meeting of January 21, 1963 at 8 :00 P.1
Council approved I'iayor Strander's appointepent to the Park hoard, irs. Charles ?astwood
and i'rs, George Drew, they will serve with Mr. Ives.
Mayor Strander will att,end a meeting nn January 8, 1963 this in -egard to
Transit service for this area
Glen ru:kbury spoke to council in regard to moving the Tukwila Foster church
into Tukwila, as they will he in the path of the prodesed freeway.
Turner spoke to council in re7ar:3 to request to
place overhead lines on 57th Avenue. Mayor Strander state that a letter answering
this request has already been sent to seattle City Light.
