HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-07-01 Regular MinutesThe regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor, John B. Strander at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.G. Radford, R.K. Doyle, E.W. Ives, Jerry Hamilton, Richard Bowen and Bill Aliment. The minutes of the June 17th meeting were read and approved as read. Mr. Ninkler moved that all bills approved by the finance committee be allowed and warrants drawn for their respective amounts, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. CURRENT EXPENSE FUND* warrants #'s 7724 7752 2,444.85 STREET EXPENSE FUND Warrants #'s 6281" 6285 268.17 WATER EXPENSE FUND warrants #'s 5887 5892 224.01 SEWER EXPENSE FUND warrants #'s 106 110 431.60 The report of the Water Department was read and placed on file. The new water system LID was discussed at length with council, Mr. Reed stated that satisfactoryAi tieing made in this regard. Mr. Hamilton moved that Ordinance 38? pretaining to a Sanitary Sewer system for the City of Tukwila be placed on itTs first reading, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried. Mr. Hamilton moved that Ordinance 382 be placed on it's second reading, seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. Mr. Doyle moved that Ordinance 382 be placed on its third and final passage, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. A letter was received By council from a Propeller Company in regard to having a certain piece of property included in the upcomimg sewer system. fir. Bergstrom asked council the procedure to follow in regard to appealing the assessment. Mr. Aliment reported for the Fire Department. Mr. lankier reported for the Police Department. After mr.ny faithful years of service to the City Chief Parker has retired. Captian Hancuff will be temporary acting Chief until a new Chied can be selected from the eligibility list set up by the Civil Service Commission. The Civil Service Commission will advertize for applicants for this position and the Civil Service lest will be given in the near future. Mr. Hamilton moved that council prepare a resolution honoring Chief Parker, seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. Mayor Strander stated that Chif Parker will keep his badge and Commission. Mr. Doyle reported for Flood Control. Mr. Bowen reported on the Buildings and grounds. Mr. Ives read a letter received from the Public Assistance Board in regard to addition aid, if the intended work has not be completed this assistance can be extended. Mr. Minkler reported for the Planning Commission. Two public hearings will be held by the Planning Commission on July 18, 1963 in the Tukwila City Hall. Mr. Ives reported for Schools. Mr. Hamilton reported on Licenses and Mr. Doyle reported for Metro. Mr. Minkler moved that Ordinance 383 relating to amending section 6 of Ordinanee #264 be placed on it's first reading seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. /1 Mr. Doyle moved that Ordinance 383 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried. Mr. Hamilton moved that Ordinance 383 be placed on its third and final passage seconded by Mr. Doyle and carried. Resolution 166 regarding dedication of 10 feet of property on Christensen from Puget Western was approved by council There being no further business for dis- cussion the meeting was adjourned.
