HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-09-16 Regular MinutesSeptember 16, 1963 The regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor, John B. Strander at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.G. Radford, R.K. Doyle, E.W. Ives, Jerry A. Hamilton, Richard A. Bowen and Bill Aliment. First order of business was the reading of the minutes of the September 3rd 9th meetings of the Council. The minutes were read and approved as read. Mr. Minkler moved that all bills approved by the finance committee be allowed and warrants drawn for their respective amounts, seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. The treasurer's report was read and approved as read The opening of bids in regard to purchasing of gas was held at this time. Bids were received from Southcenter 26.5 incl! ding tax Tidewater oil .2648 Shell Oil .275 includigg:.tax Standard Oil .29 these bids were turned over to the Building Grounds Committee for advisement This portion of the meeting was turned over to our attorney, Mr. Hodge and Mr. Heinke of Harstad Associates. Mr. Hodge read the agreement between Val Vue and Tukwila regarding the sewers. After a brief discussion Mr. Hamilton moved that council accept this contract with the deletion of the two portions. seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. Mr. Hamilton moved that council accept resolution 168 in conjunction with the linplextoCQrzX Agreement between Y&le ester•Y and Tukwila. Mr. Hamilton moved 'that council authorize Mayor Strander to sign this amended agreement seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. Mr. Val Fawcett representing McLean and Company presented to council the bonds and revenue bonds in regard to LID 's 5,6 7. Mr. Hamilton moved that council approve the two proposala presented, seconded by Mr. Doyle and carried. Mr. Hart of Harstad Associates read the bids received relating to the sewer project. 1. Taylor Utilities- schedule A $327,241.20 collection system Mr. Hamilton moved that council accept this bid, seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. 2. Hanson Construction schedule B interurban Avenue Trunk Line. Mr. Aliment moved that council approve this bid, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. 3. Mottner McCutchen sehedule C Sewer lift Station. Mr. Hamilton moved that coucil approve this bid seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. resolution 169 was presented to council at this time, this in connection with the amended agreement between Puget Western and Tukwila. Mr. Doyle moved that council approve this agreement seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. LID 6 was discussed with council at this time. Mr Hodge stated that the necessary easements have not as yet been cleared, conditional signature is in agreement. Mr. Radford moved that council ask Puget Western for a teat save harmless letter addressed to the City of Tukwila, seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. The public hearing relating to LID's 2 &3 were postponed til the meeting of October 7, 1963 at which time all phases will be clarified by the Engineer. Mayor Strander stated that copies of the prliminary budget for 64 will be available at the Clerk's office after September 23rd. The public hearing for the 64 budget will be held Monday October 7, 1963 at 8:00 P.M. in the Council chambers. This to be published as directed. i 6 i Mr. Sanford requested permission to remove dirt from behind the Service Station Mr. Sanford was instructed to have the contractor post bond stipulating their intentions. It was also brought out that Mr. Segale must get permit and post bond in regard to their project. Mr. Radford moved that council accept the bid from Rainier Asphalt Paving Company t in regard to the Street Improvement program, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. A letter will be written to the State Highway Department in regard to damage being down in the area of the freeway, this work being done by Butler Construction Company. There being no further business for discussion the meeting was adjourned til Monday October 7, 1963. Mrs. Lillian Balk, Mrs. Mae Thompson, Mr. Frank Zepp and Mr. George Long have been especially helpful in making my career in Renton a most rewarding one. Police Chief Ed Boze, Judge Lee Phillips and members of the city council have contributed greatly to the job of news gathering through their assistance and cooperation. It has been my great pleasure to work with you and the officials of the City of Tukwila. I will certainly miss this close associa- tion, but will cherish the many fine memories of watching a Town emerge from a seedling and blossom into a City with the harvest of the fruit still in the future.
