HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-12-16 Regular MinutesDecember 16, 1963 I'he regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor, John B. Strander at 5:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.G. Radford, R.K. Doyle, T.W. Ives, Jerry A. Hamilton, Richard A. Bowen and i;i]liam A. Aliment. The minutes of the December 2, 1963 meeting were read and approved as read. Yr.. I'•`inkler hove(' that all bills approved by the Finance committee be allowed and warrants drawn for their respective amounts, se conded by Mr. Radford and carried. They are as follows: Current Expense: Warrant No. 5100 8121 1,908.64 Street Expense: Warrant No. 6386 6393 13,569.22 aater Expense: Warrant No.59 5992 1 01 7.99 Sewer Expense: Warrant No. 172 175 95.91 Revenue Fund 939.24 L.I.D. No. 5 Southwick, Campbell Waterman Re: Harstad 1,635.00 L.I.D. No. 6 Southwick, Campbell Waterman Re: Segale 34 ,289.04 L.I.D. No. 7 Southwick, Campbell Waterman Re: Coluccio. 4,436 .58 189 Upon the recommendation of the Police Committee, council accepted the bid for the new patrol car from Williams and Swanson of Renton. The clerk was instructed to write a letter verifing this, also a letter will be written to the other hidAers, notifing them of council decision. Mr. Doyle moved that Ordinance 393 relating to the salary Ordinance be placed on its first reading, seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. Doyle moved that Ordinance 393 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. Mr. Aliment moved that Ordinance 393 be placed on its third and final passage, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried. Mayor Strander presented to council, received from the Kent Safety Council, in conjunction the amount of Street Lighting. Mr. Bowen reported on his contact with city officials in this regard. Mr. Bowen was instructed to write a counter proposal to there letter and contact the Mayor of Kent.that being Mayor Thornton. Mr. Bowen reported that the Public Hearing in regard to an annexation will be held Monday January 6, 1964 in Council Chambers. The reading of Ordi.natace 392 was tabled til the meeting of January 6, 1964. In the absense of Judge Phillips Mayor Strander read the Court report for the past month. Mayor Strander read a letter of resignation received from Mr. Minkler, this in regard to the Civil Service Commission. The resignation was accepted with regret, as Mr. Minkler has served the City well in this capacity. Mayor Strander at tnis time appointed Mr. Gilbert Goldsmith to fill the vacancy in the Commission. Mr. Aliment moved that council approve this appointment, seconded by 1Jr. Hamilton and carried. Mayor Strander presented to council at this time the newly appointed Chief of Police, Mr. Edward Boze. Mr. Hamilton moved that council accept Mayor Strander's appointment. seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. Mr. Boze will serve a six month's probation period, starting January 1, 1964. The water report was read and placed on file at this time. Mr. Bowen brought up the subject of investing our monies in regard to the surplus funds, these would be on ninety (14 notes. This will be clone subject to legal council. Mr. Zepp talked to council in regard to a water hook up for a temporary Construction project. After a brief discussion with council Mr. Minkler moved that council approve this on a 6 months period.as this is on State Highway Property. A flat fee will be charged of *100.00 dollars, at the end of the 6 months period a rebate of $30.00 will be given. this seconded by Mr. Ives and carried' Mr. Hamilton moved that Ordinance 394 relating to the maturity rate of Interest for L.I.D. 2 be placed on its 1st reading, seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. Mr. Doyle moved that Ordinance #f 394 be placed on its secondax reading, s econded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. Bowen moved that Ordinance 394 be placed on its 3rd and final passage, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. Mr. Aliment moved that Ordinance Tf 395 relatingtr to the maturity rate of Interest for L.T.D No. 3 be placed on its 1st reading, seconded by rr. Doyle and carried. Mr. Bowen moved that Ordinance 395 he placed on its 2nd reading, seconded by Mr. Aliment and carried. Mr. Ives move&that Ordinance 395 be placed on its 3rd and final passage ,seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried Their being no further business for discussion the meeting was adjourned.
