HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-01-20 Regular MinutesThe regular meetirg of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor, John B. Strander at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.G. Radford, R.K. Doyle, E.W. Ives, Jerry A. Hamilton, Richard A. Bowen and Bill Aliment. First order of business was the reading of the minutes of the January 6, 19J meeting the minutes were approved Ls corrected. Mr. Minkler moved that all bills approved by the finance committee be allowed and warrants drawn for their respective amounts, seconded by Mr. Doyle and carried. PAYROLL FUND Warrant 8162 8172 2,269.33 CURRENT EXPENSE FUND Warrant 8173 8193 2,183.75 STREET EXPENSE FUND Warrant 6404 6410 986.05 WATER EXPENSE FUND Warrant 6003 6010 2,661.72 SEWER EXPENSE FUND Warrant 181 182 334.45 L.I.D. 2 L.I.D. 3 L.I.D. 7 Southwick, campbell Waterman -Re: Ehrlichman 250.00 Mayor Strander publicly thanked Mr. Minkler for taking over as acting Mayor in his, Mayor Strander's absence. Mr. Hodge stated that there was an error in the legal discription in regard to the annexation of certain property. This will be corrected and the Ordinance in this regard will be prepared for the February 3, 1964 meeting. Letters have been received from the King County Commissioners also from the South Central School system, therefore the Board of Review can be dispensed with. Mr. Reed discussed with council the calling for bids on the Water relocation l Mr. Minkler moved that we advertise for bids in this regard,seconded by Mr. Hamilton and carried. Mr. Radford stated that an error had been made •.t the time of re- routing water off the Lutes property that in affect it was on Mr. Mettlers property. Restitution for damaged property will be made in this regard Mayor Strander stated that the City of Tukwila will work this problem out with Mr. Mettler Mr. Hodge stated that a Claim for damages must be placed on file within 90 days before any adjustments can be made, this to be filed with the City Clerk. Mr. Radford stated that the flume that was placed to carry off the water will be moved and extended over the bank This work to be done by the City crew this to be paid by the Contractor Mr. Radford read a letter to council received from' Mr. Lutes, this in conjunction with the above mentioned property damage. Mr. Lutes is asking $200.00 for property damage. A copy of Mr. Lutes letter was to be sent to Taylor Construction Company and to Harstad Associates. Councilman Bowen read a letter to council, received from Kent in regard to the Highway maintenance and Lighting this was tabled til a later date. The treasurer, Mrs. Thompson and the Engineer Mr. Reed will attend a meeting in Bellevue on February 13, 1964 this in regard to L.I.D. Financing. Mr. Doyle stated that the misunderstanding with the Flood Control at this time has been taken care of. A complaint was aired about the power going nut every time there is a bad storm. A letter will be written to Puget power in this regard. Mrs. Popejoy stated that there is a bad slide condition on her property, this is in conjunction with excavation done by Red and White Construction Company. Mayor Strander stated_ that this will be looked into immediately. Mayor Strander asked all the councilmen and Treasurer who will be up for election in March to introduce themselves to the audience.
