Strander at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.G. Radford, E.W. Ives, Richard A. Bowen, C.T. Baker, Robert R. Anderson, and Dwight Gardner. First order of business was the reading of the minutes of the April 20th meeting The minutes were approved as read. Mr. Minkler moved that all bills approved by the finance committee'be allowed and warrants drawn for their respective amounts. seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. $2,489.79 2,606.34 617.05 22,489.89 86.55 The Water report was read and placed on file. Mr. Zepp reported on the building permits issued in the month of. April. The Public Hearing in regard to a Street vacation (May Street) was held at this L time. Mr. Radford reported on his findings in this concern. Mr. Radford moved that council approve this vacation, except for the portion which lies in the path of the freeway. After a brief discussion with the property owner Mr. Madden) it was moved and seconded by Mr.Bowen that council accept this vacation motion carried. The Public Hearing in regard to annexation of certain property adjacent to the present city limits was discussed at this time with council. As there was objections from the adjoining property owners, this hearing will he held over til May 18, 1964 Sanitation Committee. Mr. Anderson. Mr. Reed stated that the repair of the roads will be started at onee, getting all the restoration work finished up before the new work on sewers is started. Police Department. Mr. binkler. Chief Boze gave a report on the goings on in the City Traffic in general is had due the construction work being done within the City limits. 217 Street Department report Mr. Radford. Mr. Zepp stated that the NIMIIIIKKEMINO Orillia Bridge (180th) has been posted with 10 ton load limit signs. A resolution in this regard has been drawn up, however Mr. Zepp stated that the King County Flood Control is in the area doing rip -rap work on the Green River and it is imperative that they have the use of this street. Mr. Minkler questioned Mr. Hodge in regard to granting special permission Mr. Hodge read the above mentioned resolution for discussion Mr. Hodge stated that the damage already done to the bridge by Boulevard Excavating Company, should be repaired at onee, sueing for damages later. It was suggested that pictures of the damage he taken as evidence. Mr. Baker stated that the County should be allowed to use the bridge, leaving the load limit signs as they stand., this motion seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried G Mr. Hodge read Resolution 172 in regard to the load limits NrIMBI% AA emergency clause was placed on the floor for discussion, this for County use only. It reads as follows: That an exception to the Resolution 172 be passed. An emergency exist and that the King County Flood Control be granted permission to use the Orillia Bridge and 180th Street for their equipment for necessary improvement of the property adjoining the green river, where rip rap repair is needed immediately. Mr. Bowen moved that council accept this stipulation seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried. Mr. Minkler reported for the Water Committee. Mr. Reed presented maps and drawings of the proposed L.I.D. 8 this for a water lime on North interurban Avenue S. lU This will come up for public hearing on Nay 18, 1964 Fire Department. Mr. Bowen stated that his committee met with Mr. Mankey of Pacific Bell they are working on getting this siren system in working order. Mr. Gardner reported for the Flood Control Committee. Mr. Gardner presented to council copies of an agreement to be signed, this in regard to dividing the zoning to East and West ponding will be done in the area this being 154th South to south city limits.Mr. Gardner moved that council sign this agreement seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried. Annexation Committee. Mr. Bowen. Public hearing to be held on May 18th as previously stated. Public Buildings and Grounds. reported by Mr. Baker. Mr. Ives reported for Parks and Beautification. Mr. Ives stated that Mr. Hoefling has requested the use of the Tukwila Park from May 5 June 30th this for Fun Ball and soforth. This was approved by council. It was brought to the attention of the council the problem of wrecked cars and soforth on property. Mr. Hodge was instructed to draft an Ordinance in this regard defining junk, as to how much junk constitutes a junk yard. Mr. Minkler reported for the Planning Commission. Mr. Minkier read the letter received from the attorney wherin he advised the City to reject Mr. Reslock's claim for damages Mr. Minkler moved that council approve this action, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried. Mr. Ives reported for Schools. Mayor Strander stated that a tentative date has been set for childrens day ast City Hall, this to be worked out with Mr. Snowden. Mr. Ives reporting for the license Committee stated that an application for a permit was received from a Mr. Larry Taylor, this in conjunction with selling tip sheets to the race track patrons. The police Department was asked to check this out, as it is a form of Peddling Business. Mr. Gardner reported for the Metro Committee. Mr. Hodge discussed the Hanson Construction Company with Council. Mayor Strander set up a meeting with the Engineers, contractors and council for Wednesday Lay 5, whereby all the problems can be worked out. Mr. Ives speaking in regard to the Pacific Bell telephone company suggested that Mr. Hayes relate his plans to council in regard to 147th street so thE. council can act in regard to the requested vacation Miss Hallowway questioned council in regard to sewers, hook up and charges XXX Mr. Todd questioned the water rates in conjunction to the apartment. The City Clerk was instructed to send a copy of the Ordinance in this regard. There being no further business for discussion the meeting was sdjourned.
