The new Inclusion and Engagement Manager was introduced. Commissioners shared something about themselves. • History of the Commission. Aaron Draganova and Kathy Hougardy provided an overview of the Commission's history from inception, scope and role, and how it evolved over time. • Mission Review. Tukwila Equity and Social Justice Commission City of Tukwila – City Hall 6200 Southcenter Boulevard, Tukwila, WA 98188 Commissioners reviewed and discussed the mission that was adopted on March 4, 2021; no changes recommended. Interest expressed in taking a proactive approach to providing input to the council on equity issues, including reviewing council agendas. • Review Budget and Discuss Priorities for 2023. Rachel noted a correction to the budget. Commissioners reviewed and discussed the intentions for use of funding in support of the mission. Commissioners discussed the timeline, purpose, and objectives of an equity training for all Board and Commission members in the City. Consensus was reached to use the remaining funds to contract with an equity consultant. The consultant will facilitate a session in September/October for all Board and Commission members in the City. It was emphasized that participation is voluntary. Inviting current councilmembers and those running for open positions was recommended. Interest in creating a mandatory training in the future was expressed.
