CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Council President Delostrinos Johnson called the Tukwila City Council meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and
Ied the audience in the Pedge ofAHegance.

PUBLIC COMMENTS
1. Greg Sherlock provided an update regarding a drainage ditch on his property for which he has been
in communications with Public Works staff and commented on noise from the Sabey Data Center.
2. Joe Duffie referenced the upcoming 2023 elections, emphasizing the need for elected officials that
are invested in the City, and commented on the Public Works Shops.
PRESENTATIONS
a. 2023 Legislative session overview.
David Fostmr, City Lobbyist, presented a review of the 2023 Legislative Session highlighting the biennial
budget, top issues, and funding in Tukwila.

b. Get to know Puget Sound Fire — Planning Division: Data Analytics.
Chief Brian Carson and Deputy Chief Sean Penwell of Puget Sound Fire (PSF) provided an overview of
the Data Analytics program in the Planning Division.
The Councilmembers asked clarifying questions and thanked Puget Sound Fire for the presentation.
SPECIAL ISSUES
a. Public Works Campus Phase 2: Design and Pre -construction.
Brandon Miles, Business Relations Manager, provided an update on phase 2 of the Public Works
Operations Campus pjecthoindudedesignuosts.finoncing.estimatedconstructioncosts.andimpacts.
Staff is seeking Council authorization to proceed with design and pre -construction work.

b. An update on the 42nd Avenue South Briclge Replacement project.
Adam Cox, Transportation Project W1anager, provided an update on the 42 Avenue South Bridge
replacement project. Design is being moved forward to 90% and the project is expected to bid in the first
quarter of2O25. .

REPORTS
a. Mayor
Mayor Ekberg shared he will be participating in the upcoming Memorial Day Ceremony held at the
Museum ofFlight onMay 2Q.2023.
b. City Council
Councilmember Hougardy attended a South County Area Transportation Board (SCATBd) meeting where
they discussed the SaFE Reform Initiative which includes the Terminal Ambassador pilot program,
upcoming grant opportunities through Puget Sound Regional Council, and Metro Fall 2023 service
changes resulting in route reductions due to workforce shortages. She participated in the King County
Regional Transit Committee meeting where they received presentations on mobility services that includes

the Community Van program and Metro's capital toolkit for partners. She attended an Equity and Social
Justice Commission meeting where they discussed equity training for all Boards and Commissions,
Councilmember Quinn shared that the Sound Cities Association Board of Directors recently met to
discuss the Blake Oaoiaion, housing, and homelessness. He relayed cities remain committed to finding
opportunities for partnershps.
Councilmember Kruller attended a Puget Sound Partnership Ecosystem Coordination Board meeting
which mainly focused on best practices for orca and salmon recovery efforts. She relayed the legislature
recently passed a new distance law to protect killer whales from boats. The Finance and Governance
Committee discussed updates to the Council rules of procedure that has been forwarded to an upcoming
Committee of the Whole for further discussion. She participated in a ribbon -cutting ceremony for Levi's
which recently opened in Westfield Southcenter mali.
Councilmember McLeod indicated he participated in a Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority (PSF)
Governance Board meeting and reported continued progress in relationship -building with the PSF.
Councilmember Abdi was invited to speak at Rainier Beach High School students regarding his civic
engagement and career pathways. He will be attending the upcoming Foster High School Environmental
Internship Symposium that will be at the Tukwila Community Center on May 31, 2023, and speaking at
the Somali Literature and Culture Fair at the Sullivan Center on May 29, 2023.
Council President Delostrinos Johnson attended a quarterly meeting of the Seattle Sports Commission
where they discussed branding strategies for the 2026 FIFA World Cup that wili include All-Star events.
She participated in a South King Housing and Homelessness Partnership Executive Board meeting
where they approved the 2023 Workplan and budget that will be forthcoming for consideration at a future
Council meeting.
