HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-08-17 Regular MinutesAugust 17, 1964 The regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the mayor, John B. Strander at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were A.G. Radford, '_.1 Ives, Richard A. Bowen, Dwight R. Gardner, C.T. Raker and Robert B. Anderson. CURRENT EXPENSE FUND Warrant 8534 8547 STREET EXPENSE FUND 6502- 6504 WATER EXPENSE FUND 6095 6097 RRYROLL it 264 278 WATER SEWER CONSTRUCTION FUND 52 881.46 93.99 94.83 2,503.15 6,918.11 A public hearing in regard to the closing of L.I.D. 6 was held at this time. Mr. Diehl spoke to council and audience, giving a full explanation of what L.I.D. consisted of, that being grading and making a road in the Andover area. As thrre were no objections to this L.I.D. 6 Mr. Anderson moved that council confirm the assessment roll, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. A resolution 174 was presented to council at this tim This resolution sets forth the date of September 21, 1964 at 8:00 P.M. as the public hearing for th final assessment roll for L.I.D. 5. It was noted at this time that the barriers on the construction sites were checked out. Mr. Zepp spoke to council in regard to accepting Slade Way. When a corrected deed is presented to council this can be accepted. The deed in cuest-on is being prepared as of now. 243 First order of business was the reading of the minutes of the August 3, 1964 meeting, the minutes were approved as read. Mr. Ives moved that all bills approved by the Finance committee be allowed and warrants drawn for their respective amounts, secondeld by IMIr. Bowen and carried. They are as follows: A public hearing in regard to a rezone of lot size from 9600 square feet to 7200 square feet, this in the local improvement area, was held at this time. Mr. Radford moved that an ordinance be drafted amending the zoning Ordinance, Ord inance 251, seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried. therefore the public hearing in this regard was closed. Mr. Diehl spoke to council in regard to hiding a public hearing in regard to L.T.D. 5. This will be for the 21st day of aeptember The final assessment roll will be on. file in the office of the clerk as of the 27th day of August 1964 Mr. Zepp spoke to council in regard to a resolution- resolution a 175 this in regard to a grade elevation within th e corporate limits of the City of Tukwila. Mr. Baker moves that council accept this resolution, seconded bin Mr. Radford and carried. Mr. Anderson stated that the sewer line alone the Renton Three three Road will be held up, as the State Highway Department can not work in there until early next spring, however the city of Tukwila needs this within the next 6 weeks. Mayor Strander stated that a letter will be written to the proper authorities to alleviate this problem. Mr. Anderson stated that the Val Vue contract is coming alone real well, the streets in the sewer area are being repaired as rapidly as possible. Air. Gardner st ted that another contract is ready for signing, this in regard to the flood Control. This will be discussed at a later date. Mr. Ives spoke to council in regard to having Licenced and bonded men working on the side sewer installations within the City. Er. Anderson stated that an Ordinance is B.einge drafted, wherby this will be taken uareof, this to be presented to council at the September 8th meeting. Mr. Bergstrom spoke to council in regard to damage done to his property by the contractor. August 17, 1964 (Con't) After a brief discussion by council, City attorney Mr. Hodge stated that this damage is not the City's responsibilty, that Mr. Bergstrom s};ould contact the contractor. Mr. Anderson will contact the Contractor Mr. Taylor, to resolve this problem. Mrs clink spoke to council on the road condition at 57th avenue and 180th street. Mr. Ives stated that part of the damage done in this area should be charged to Water District 75 who has been doing work in the area. Mr. Radford and Yr. Ives will check out this area to see what can be done.. Itr. Radford stated that barricades will be set to denote slide areas.
