JUN 11 2018 D FOR PLIANCE Features • Stainless steel construction provides long term crrosioney it Tukwila and maximum strength B ILDING DIVISION • Stainless steel body is half the weight of compe installation & shipping costs • Short end-to-end dimensions makes retrofit easy • Bottom mounted relief valve reduces clearance requiremRRECTION SY St er Test Cocks ooved 'Coupling Disc installed against art outside wall • Torsion spring check valves provides maximum flow at io\LTR# pressure drop • Thermoplastic & stainless steel check valves for trouble-free operation • No special tools required for servicing • Compact construction allows for smaller enclosures • Stainless steel relief valve features a balanced rolling diaphragm to eliminate sliding seals and lower maintenance costs Specifications A Reduced Pressure Zone Assembly shall be installed at each cross -con- nection to prevent backsiphonage and backpressure of hazardous materi- als into the potable water supply. The assembly shall consist of a pressure differential relief valve located in a zone between two positive seating check valves. The main valve body shall be manufactured from 300 Series stainless steel for corrosion resistance. The check valves shall be of thermoplastic construction with stainless steel hinge pins, cam arm, and cam bearing. The check valvesrian utilizea single torsion spring design to minimize pressure drop through the assembly. The check valves shall be modular and shall seal to the main valve body by the use of an 0 -ring. There shall be no brass or bronze parts used within the check assembly or relief valve. The use of seat screws to retain the check valve seat is prohibited. All internal parts shall be accessible through a single cover on the valve assembly securely held in place by a two -bolt grooved coupling. The differential relief valve shall be of stainless steel construction and shall utilize a rolling diaphragm and no sliding seals. The relief valve shall be bottom mounted and supplied with a steel reinforced sensing hose. The assembly shad inciude two resilient seated shutoff valves & four bats type t ks. THERE IS NO CHANGES RESULTING FROM THE PENETRATIONS. PLUMBING PENETRATIONS ARE ACCEPTABLE AS SHOWN ON THE PLUMBING PLANS. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ORIGINAL ELEVATED SLAB DESIGNS HAD PENETRATIONS WITHIN THE DESIGN TO ACCOMODATE FUTURE PLUMBING. THE PLANS ALSO PROVIDE STRICT GOIDELIN: FOR INCLUDING PENETRATIONS IN PT SLABS. Penetration design philosophy. Small penetrations such as plumbing penetrations can cause issues with punching shear calculations at column as they take area from the area of concrete that car; be used to resist the punching shear. At all interior columns punching shear is calculated s a circle around the column. When a penetration is added it acts like removing a piece of pie from that circle. It does not matter what side that piece is taken from the remaining pie is still the same size. Therefore we add a max size opening to every column thus'eliminating that piece of pie from the punching shear calculation. Note that at the foundation we did not add stud rails but instead increased the depth of the surrounding concrete to add depth to our punching shear. Therefore we are relying on the concrete only to resist the punching shear and additional reinforcing is not required. Per the International Building Code, International Mechanical Code, Uniform Plumbing Code and/or the National Electric Code, every permit issued by the Building Division under the provisions of these codes shall expire by limitation and become null and void if the building or work authorized by such permit has not begun within 180 days from the issuance date of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is suspended or abandoned at any time after the work has begun for a period of 180 days. Your permit will expire on 9/23/2019. Based on the above, you are hereby advised to: 1) Call the City of Tukwila Inspection Request Line at 206-438-9350 to schedule for the next or final inspection. We wanted to get going on the underground work while the city reviewed the entire building and procuring an entirely separate permit for just the underground—even though the full -set included the underground was recommended by one of the permit technicians. Because both sets of plans were reviewed simultaneously, we essentially received both permits simultaneously (within a couple days of each other): pemit PG18-0069 for the underground -only and PG18-0070 for the entire building, which included the underground as well as the above -grade. PG18-0069 wag effectively a duplicate to get the project going. In January and early -February, 2019, the weather was too cold for us to safely fill the pipes with water for testing purposes so we postponed our inspections. We mistakenly renewed the underground permit PG18-0069 (see attached) in February thinking that it was the permit for the entire building. We have since been calling in our inspections for the above -grade portion of the building using the underground permit number by mistake. In the meantime, the entire building's permit (PG18-0070) expired. We request Tukwila to please transfer our completed plumbing inspections from permit number PG18-0069 over to the correct permit number, PG18-0070, so we can continue our inspections. We offer our sincerst apologies for the mix-up. Sincerely, Current E: Request for Extension # I •piration Date: Terris L.S. We have no comments necessitating a response from the permit applicant. Drawings and Calculations This submittal is a plumbing penetration permit for the Sterling Southcenter — Foundation Only (D17-0330) and Revelle at Southcenter (D17-0300) projects. Sheets from the aforementioned projects that were obtained during the previous reviews were referenced for information only. New plan sheets were not provided for review. Structural calculations were submitted for the foundation penetrations in response to a request for revised pages due to some pages being illegible. The sheets were replaced with a different scale to allow easier review. The structural calculations are enclosed, and they should replace any previous sets submitted with the original permit submittal. The new calculations are dated July 6, 2018. Special Inspections, Submittals, Tests, and Structural Observation This submittal is part of the Sterling Southcenter — Foundation Only (D17-0330) and Revelle at Southcenter (D17-0300) projects. Applicable building codes updated. 2. Plans are stamped and signed. 3. We included trap primer lines on the plans to the drains. Public Works review comments: 1. We initially split out the fixture counts since the underground and L1 were applied for separately as an "underground only" permit, as instructed by the permit technician; they have been recombined and included. I've also included the Sewer Use Certification form filled out. Unfortunately, the signing authority is out of town until early next week, so I won't be able to drop off a signed form until Wednesday June 6th but am assured by the owner that all the.: information 'provided ,is accurate. Please use this in the meantime to process the underground permit application and I'll drop off the signed form next week. 2. Side sewer connection ' 60' to the north is only sized for 6" connection and will be capped. Connection will be made where shown on the plumbing plans and has been reviewed by us, Civil, and the General Contractor. 3. Both douche -check models are ineluded on the List of Approved Backflow Prevention Assemblies as prepared by the USC Foundation for Cross -Connection Control and Hydraulic Research, dated 27 March 2018. 4. Watts 994 will be provided for main water line entering the building. Watts LF007 will be provided for irrigation and trash chute washdown system. The comments are identical for the above -ground and below -ground permit applications. Obviously, the underground -only is the more critical to us at this juncture so please consider that appJ$cation first unless you are ready to issue a permit for the entire project.
