The regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the
Mayor, John B. Strander at 8 :00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler,
A.G. Radford, E.W. Ives, Richard A. Bowen, Dwight R. Gardner, C.T. Baker
and Robert B. Anderson.
The first order of business was the reading of the minutes of the October 19th
meeting, the minutes were approved as read. Mr. Minkler moved that council
hold up on any payments to Harstad's until such time satisfactory progress is
shown in regard to the sewer project. In conjunction with the new sidewalk being
put in on Interurban Avenue, a bill was received from a Mr. Hughs in regard to
loss of work and business to the Flying "A" service station. This should be de-
ducted from the Hanson Contract. Mr. Minkler moved that all other bills be approve
ed, seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried. They are as follows:

The report on building permits issued in the month of October was presented
to council at this time.
Mr. Radford speaking for the Street Committee stated that a letter received
from Judge Phillips and other families in the area of 65th and 154th street
stated that the traffic pattern should be changed as the only acess to their
respective properties was to cross a double yellow marker painted on the road-
way, which is illegal. After a brief discussion with council it was suggested
Mr. Radford along with Chief Boze meet with the State Highway Engineers to clear
this matter up.
Mr. Minkler reporting for the Water Committee stated that L.I.D. was ready to
go. Coluccio Construction will be the contractor.
Mr. Anderson reported for the Sanitation Committee. The sewer project along
Interurban Avenue North is completed, with the Val Vue sewer portion should
be completed shortly. A side sewer ordinance in regard to rules and regulation
of installation will be prepared for the next council meeting.
Mr. Bowen reporting for the Fire Department stated that Mrs. Frey has offered
her resignation effective January 1, 1965, as there is no one available to take
this over, the fire department is in the process of dealing with the Buyien Fire
Department They will take all calls for Tukwila with no charge. There will be
the cost of a pletron system and soforth, but on the removal of the phone from
the Frey residence also the saving of the fee to Mrs. Frey this should be a
savings to the City. Mr. Bowen moved that council concur with this change, sec-
onded by Mr. Ives and carried.
Police Committee Mr. Minkler. Chief Boze reported on the activities in the
City in the Month of October.
Mr. Gardner reported for the Flood Control Committee He stated that a very
informative meeting was held in Everett on October 22nd which he attended.
Mr. Ives reporting for the Park Committee stated that all the temporary san -cans
have been removed for the season. The Park Committee is looking for a place to
store the picnic tables for the winter. This to be checked out with Mr. Zepp.

Mrs. Flink discussed the open ditch that the State Highway Department is proposing
to put in in the area of 57th and 180th streets. Mr. Gardner will contact Mr.
Alexander for more information in this regard.
Mr. Bowen reported for annexation.
Mr. Baker reporting for public buildings and grounds stated that a new gas heater
will be installed in the Clerk's office at a cost of $420.00 this will free the
heater being used now for the shop.
Mr. Baker moved that bids for gasoline for the year 1965 be opened at the meeting,
of December 21, 1964, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried. The City Clerk was
instructed to place a call for bids in the Record Chronicle.
Mr. Ives reported for the License Committee.

Mr. Minkler reporting for the Planning Commission stated that a proposed
minim ;plat standard Ordinance has been turned over to the Attorney for
drafting.
Mr. Ives reporting for the School committee stated that the new stadium at
th school is being well filled for the home games.
Council received a thank you note from the Peterson family in regard to the
recent death of their daughters.
Mayor Strander spoke to council about new lights being installed on the west
valley road, with Renton, Kent and Tukwila all sharing in this project.
New lights at the Renton junction was also discussed with council at this time.
Mayor Strander publically thanked Mr. Zubrod of the Record Chronicle for his
kind consideration to the city in his position with the Record Chronicle.
Mr. Zubrod is leaving that firm and will no longer be dealing with the City.

The water line (L.I.D. 9) was discussed with council, a sample of the water
has been sent in for inspection.
The Tukwila Downs problem of drainage was discussed at length with council.
Mr. Radford spoke to council in regard to the widening of 58th Avenue from
144th to 147th this to be paid for from the 2 cent gas tax fund. Mr. Minkler
moved that Mr. Radford proceed with this project, seconded by Mr. Ives and
carried.
There being no further business for discussion the meeting was adjourned.
