HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-01-04 Regular MinutesThe regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor
John B. Strander at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.G. Radford,
E.W. Ives, Richard A. Bowen, Dwight R. Gardner, C.T. Baker and Robert B. Anderson.
First order of business was the reading of the minutes of the December 21, 1964
meeting The meetings were read and approved subject to corrections and additions
as stipulated.
Mr. Minkler moved that all bills approved by the finance committee be allowed and
warrants drawn for their respective amounts, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried.
The Water report was read and placed on file.
Mr. Radford reported for the Street Committee, stating that all that can be done to
the streets in this type of weather has been done.
Mr. Minkler publically commended the Tukwila Street crew on the work, well done in
keeping our streets free of snow and sanded, regardless of the time of day or night.
Mr. Minkler reported for the Water Committee.
Mr. Anderson reported for the Sanitation Committee.
Mr. Bowen reported for the Fire Department. Mr. Bowen stated that the turn out for
day time practice is good, also that the alarm system with Burien is bieng worked
on and should be in effect very shortly.
Mr. Minkler reported for the Police Committee.
Chief Boze gave a brief report on the Police Department. New court dates have been
set. The first will be January 13, 1965. Cases requiring a jury will be held in
Renton, all other cases will be held in the local chambers.
Mr. Gardner reported for the Flood Control Committee.
Mr. Bowen reported for the Annexation Committee. A public hearing for the annexation re
request of a Dorothy Boode will be held January 18, 1965 at 8:00 P.M.
Mr.Boker reported for the Public Buildings and Grounds Committee. Mr. Baker stated
that the first bill has been presented on the new heating system. which shows a
30% reduction.
Mr. Ives reported the Parks and Beautification Committee.
Mr. Minkler reported for the Planning Commission.
Mr. Ives reported for the School Committee. Mr. Ives stated that Mr. Crostick was
checking into annexation for certain property, but nothing was concluded at this
time.
It was noted by council that business licenses and dog licenses are due, a notice
to this affect will be published in the Record Chronicle.
Mr. Gardner reported for Metro.
In conjunction with L.I.D. 8 and L.T.T). 9 Y'r. Bowen moved that the City engineer
be order to prepare the final assessment roll for the above mentioned L.I.D's and that
the hearing for the assessment roll be set for 8:00 P.M. in the Tukwila City Hall.
this motion seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried.
Mr. Wing of Puget Western read a letter to council in connection with the Water
Sanitary Sewage Disposal service surcharge re: L.I.D. 2 3 these are amendments
to the second agreement. A check was also presented in this regard.
This will be brought up at the mid month meeting for discussion.
There being no firther business for discussion the meeting was adjourned.
