The regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the
Mayor, John B. Strander at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler,
A.G. Radford, Richard A. Bowen, Dwight R. Gardner and Robert B. Anderson.

First order of business was the reading of the minutes of the July 6th meeting.
the minutes were approved as corrected. the correction being that the members
of the Flood Control committee would be in attendance at this meeting, not the
County Commissioners.
Mr. Minkler moved that all bills approved by the finance committee be allowed
with warrants drawn for their respective amounts seconded by Mr. Bowen and
carried.
Mr. Anderson moved that Ordinance h30 be placed on its second reading, seconded
by Mr. Raker a ^d carried Mr. Bowen that Ordinance 430 be placed on its third
and final reading for.passage, seconded by Mr. Baker and carried.
Mr. Baker moved that Ordinance 431 referring to the Mayor's authority to
transfer, funds within the budget, be placed on its first reading seconded by
Mr. Gardner and carried. Mr. Bowen moved that Ordinance 431 b.. e placed on I
its seconded reading, seconded by Mr. Baker and carried. Mr. Anderson moved that
Ordinance 431 be placed on its third and final reading for passage, seconded
by Mr. Radford and carried
Mr. Bowen moved that Ordinance 432 regarding rezone of certain property from
C -1 to C -2 be placed on its first reading seconded by Kr. Gardner and carried.
Mr. Anderson moved that Ordinance 432 be placed on its seconded reading, seconded
by Mr. Bowen and carried. Mr. Bowen moved that Ordinance 432 be placed on its
third and final reading for passage, seconded by Yr. Radford and carried.
It was noted that Ordinance 432 and Ordinance 433 will be filed with the King
County Auditor, with map attached denoting the property in question.
A resolution 184 was presented to council at this time, this in regard to
the shifting of funds. Mr. Bowen moved that council approve this resolution
seconded by i41r. Minkler and carried.
Mr. Bowen moved that Ordinance 434 regarding a Radar unit be placed on its
first reading, seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried. This will be carried over
to the meeting of August 2, 1965.
Mr. Minkler read a letter received from the Planning Commission whereby the
Planning Commission approved the plans of Anover Plat 3 Mr. Greathouse of
Puget Western, Inc. presented the Plat maps to council. After a brief discussion
by council Mr. Anderson moved that council accept this plan, seconded by Mr.
Bowen and carried.
Mr. Anderson moved that Ordinance 433 regarding the rezone of certain property
from R -1 to R -3 be placed on its first reading, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried.
Mr. Anderson moved that Ordinance 1 433 be placed on its second reading, seconded
by Mr. Baker and carried. Mr. Baker moved that Ordinance 433 be placed on its
third and final reading for passage, seconded by Ir. Bowen and carried.
Mr. Gardner spoke to council in regard to an agreement the Flood Control would
have the City of Tukwila sign along with Kent, Renton and Auburn.
Mr. Bruce Forbes and Mr. Al Lang was at this meeting to answer geestions
and make explainations as to the future plans of the Flood Control Committee.
Mr. Forbes stated that the Flood Control committee would like to get this all
ready for the next session of congress and that a major part of the project
could be completed within the 3rd year. Mr. Forbes stated that the signing of
this agreement does not bind the city financially, just show good intent.
Mr. Gardner moved that with a cover letter send to the City spelling out in
detail the complete obligation of the City that this resolution be accepted
by the Council,seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried. Mr. Gardner moved that
council authorize the Mayor to sign this agreement, subject to the Attorney's
approval on the cost factor. seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried.
This second motion amends the first motion in this regard.
Mr. Forbes speaking in regard to the Flood Control stated that the water level
was raised the second time for the purpose of taking of pictures for study.
This is when the Tukwila area incurred the most flood damage.
The subject of a new police car was discussed with council at this time.
It was suggested that a new car be placed for bids and that the old
car be used as a back up car. Mr. Bowen moved that a call for bids
be advertised with the opening of bids slated for August 2, this seconded
by Mr. Anderson and carried.
Mr. Anderson read a a letter received from the Engineers, this in regard to
the recent request for earthquake damage. The request was granted therefore
the money will be forthcoming in the near future.
There being no further business for discussion the meeting was adjourned.

Because of the absence of Mr. Ives, the Licence Committee chairman, the request
for a taxi cab license received from Mr. Reed was tabled til the next meeting
of council.
