The regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the
Mayor ProTem Stanley D. Minkler at 8:00 P.'. Councilmen present were 4.C.
Radford, E.W. Ives, Richard A. Bowen, C.T. Baker and Robert B. Anderson.

The first order of business was the reading of the minutes of the July 19th meeting,
the minutes were approved as read. Mr. Radford moved that all bills approved by the
finance committee be allowed with warrants drawn for their respective amounts, seconded
by Mr. Tves and carried.

Bid opening for a new police ear was held at t'nis time. One bid was received, this
from Southgate Ford, this in the amount of %,361.00 less State sales tax and license.
After a brief discussion with council Mr. Bowen moved that council accept this bid,
seconded by fir. Radford and carried
Mr. Radford moved that Ordinance ,Y 434 be pieced on its secone reading, this in
regard to a radar unit for the Police car,' seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. Mr.
Ives moved that Ordinance tt 434 be placed on its third and final reading for passage
seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried.

Mr. Anderson moved that Ordinance ,i 435 relating to a fee for Plan inspection re-
garding building permits, be placec on it first reading, s econded by dr. Ives and
carried. ].fir. Ives moved that Ordinance Y 435 be placed 6n its seconded reading, seconder
by Mr. Baker and carried. Mr. Anderson moved that Ordinance IT 435 be placed on its
third and final reading for passage, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried.
Mr. Hodge speaking in regard to the TZater Shed agreement stated that dent and
Tukwila have inserted a rider to this agreement whereby it will be in written form
That Tukwila is not bound for payment.
Mr. Zepp reported on the building permits issued for the month of July.
Mr. Radford reported for the street committee. Mr. Zepp spoke to council in regard
to the proposed project of upgarding 58th'Avenue S. and the use of the cent gas
tax monies. The two projects are from Interurban Ave. to 144th on 5th avenue
this will involve storm drains and soforth. The second project will be from 144th s
to 147th on 5f'th Avenue, this will be widing of the street to the installing of
additional catch basins and soforth.
Zepp stated that it was necessary for he city to hq.7e this street, program up-
dated whereby a.public hearing is a neeesity. "r. Arderson moved that council set
the date of August 16, 1965 as a day for the hearing in this regard, seconded by
Mr. Bowen and carried. Mr. Radford moved that the date of August 16 also be used l e
for the date of opening bids on the proposed street improvement, seconded by
Anderson and carried. It was brought out at this time that all utility poles and
so forth would be moved prior to any construction.
A request for mercury vapor lights was received from the Faul Haggart Co.
This will be discussed with the Street committee to be reported on at a later
meeting.
The condition of 53rd street was discussed at this time. I,r. Zepp stated that after
the bridge is opened to traffic on SCuth 144th that the State Highway Department will
resurface the streets in the immediate area.
Mr. Anderson speaking for the Sanitation Committee, staing that a letter of acceptance
was received from Harstad in conjunction with the Mottner I'cCutchen Contract. It was
suggested that this natter be tabled til the meeting of August 16th.
Mr. Anderson moved that council authorize the Mayor to sign the Agreement with 1 0'
Hill Ingman for the Storm Drainage Project, seconded by I•''r. Ives and carried.
Mr. Anderson moved that the City Clerk prepare a letter for the Mayor's signature
instructing Hill Ingman to prepare the necessary applications for the H H'F A
loan for feasibilty studies on the following:
Interurban Avenue S. Sanitary sewer, Tukwila Downs, sanitary sewer and a "ulti-
Municipility Treatment plant, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried.
Mr. Bowen speaking for the Fire Department stated that diploma's for a recently
completed course in fire fighting will be handed out at the Duwamsih Fire Station
and a goodly number of the Tukwila Firemen will be receiving same.
Chief Boze gave a brief report on the Activity of the Police nepartment within
the last month.
Mr. Gardner spoke in behalf of the Flood Controi Committee :pit,} +ham Ta -Tor
authorized to sign the 4 ater Shed Agreement everything is getting in shape.
Mrs. Mohr speaking in regard to flood damay and soForth stated that she would,
if at all possible to have her land re plated or unplated as the case may be, as
so much of her property was taken by the flooding in the area. A`r. ::inkier
stated that Mrs. Mohr should present her plans to the Planning Commission, whereby
her request for replat and I; 1 zoning will be considered.
Mr. Ives speaking for the license committee stated that another application has
been received for a taxi Ca; station within Tukwila. !{r. Ives stated that an
Ordinance in this regard is being worked on.
hir. Gardner speaking for the Metro Committee stated that he and Mr. -epp attended
an open.ink of the new Metro Plant in Renton.
In answer to a question of the water problem on the west hill at 53rd street
Mr. Zepp stated that they are continuing to cap the many wells in the area.
There being no further business for discussion the meeting; was adjourned.
