HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-10-18 Regular MinutesThe regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor, John B. Strander at 8 :00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan Minkler, A.G. Radford, E.W. Ives, Richard A. Bowen, Dwight R. Gardner and Robert B. Anderson. First order of business was the reading of the minutes of the October 4th meeting the minutes were approved as corrected, the correction being that property within the boundaries of LID 5 be rezoned from R -19.6 to R -17.2 Discussion on the rezoning of R -3 property to R.M.H was continued at this time, but due to the absence of Mr. Esping this will be brought up at the meeting of November 1, 1965• A Public Hearing in regard to re= Plat of Pamela Drive was opened to the Public at this time. Mr. Roy Tongue speaking for Mrs. Tongue stated that the back half of this property is still platted and if this vacation would be granted, there would be no access to this property. After a brief discussion it was decided that Mrs. Tongue meet with Mrs. Mohr to see if anything can be worked out. Mr. Tongue will present his plat at thee$ RUM meeting of November whereby this can be resolved. It was noted that a request for sewers had been received from Pacific Propeller Company and From Mr. E.H. Sanford. After a brief discussion with council Mayor Strander stated that now was the time to move in this regard if we were to develop the property in this area. Mr. Anderson Chairman of the Sanitation Committee called a meeting in this regard for Tuesday evening at 7:30 P.M. that being October 19, 1965. The City Engineer will also be in attendance Mr. Charles McGarrigle of Puget Sound Power and Light Company spoke to council in regard to a revision of rates for the area. As or October 8th a revision of rates has been filed, whereby rate changes could possibly be in effect as early as November 11, 1965 Councilman Bowen presented Ordinance 441 to council at this time this in regard to the Statewide Employees Retirement plan. Mr. Bowen moved that Ordinance 441 be placed on its first reading, seconded by Mr. and carried. Mr. Gardner moved that Ordinance 441 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Radford and carried. Mr. Anderson move d that Ordinance 441 be placed on its third and final reading for passage seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. Mr. Anderson speaking in regard to liens against contractors regarding the recent sewer installation spoke about paying these commitments, whereby i =ir. Hodge stated that the 10% retainage can not be paid until all claims with same are settled. Mr. Hodge also stated that a claim received from Mr. Hughs can not be considered by council. Mr. Ives speaking in regard to the Storm Drainage Program questioned the progress being made to get an easement from the property owners in question. After lengthy discussion it was agreed that an easement common to both properties be presented to both property owners, for signature. Mr. Gardner spoke to council on a recent meeting held by the Seattle Port Commission discussion of the Battelle report as to the feasibility of dredging the river for bargee travel was reported on, with no definite conclusions being made Mayor Strander and Mr. Gardmer were in attendance at this meeting There being no further business for discussion the meeting was adjourned.
