HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-03-21 Regular MinutesMarch 21, 1966 The regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by the Mayor, John B. Strander at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan ,':inkier, A.G. Radford, B.W. Ives, Richard A. Bowen, Dwight R. Gardner, C.T. Baker and Robert B. Anderson. First order of business was the reading of the minutes of the Karch 7th meeting. The minutes were approved as read. Mr. Anderson reouested that the minutes show the 5 -2 vote in regard to a recent rezone request show that Councilman Anderson and Baker voted for the rezone. Bids were opened at this time in regard to a call for bids for gasoline. Bids were received from South center Oil and from Shell oil. The bid received from southcenter was not allowed as it was for stove oil, not gasoline. The bid received 'rom Shell oil stated a price of y .22 cents per gallon for regular and .25 cents per gallon for super shell. This bid was turned to Mr. Baker and committee. Per. Ives moved that 1 r. Baker be authorized to elward the bid, seconded by Kr. Bowen and carried. 79 Mr. Minkler speaking for the rlanning Commission stated that a reauest for a varience has been received from Mr. Trudeau, this in regard to a new residence. The varience being that the set be changed from 30 feet to 25 feet for a portion of the building. Yr. Bowen moved that this request be approved by council, seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried. Ordinance 453 was presented to council at this time, this in regard to a recent rezone. Mr. Bowen moved that Ordinance Y 453 be placed on its first I reading seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. Mr. Ives moved that Ordinance 453 be placed on its second reading seconded by Mr. lankier and carried. Mr. Anderson moved that Ordinance 153 be placed on its third and final read- ing for adoption seconded by Mr. Ives and carried, with Mr. Gardner declining to vote. In a letter to council Mr. Hawley pointed out that the request was not published in the local paper therefore this hearing should be done over. Mr. Ives moved that a second hearing in this regard be set for April 18, 1966, seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried. Pr. Zepp presented plans (for approval by council from Behr Manning Company and from D. Overmayer Company. Mayor Strander moved that the council section of the Architectural CReview Control study these plans, after a brief discussion Mr. Anderson moved that the plans received from Belk? Nanning be accepted subject tape landscape plan approval, seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried. Mr. Anderson moved that the plans received from D. Overmayer Company be accepted with the same stipulation as above also the utility plans,this motion seconded by Mr. Radford and carried. Therefore the council section of the arctitectural review Board was closed. A reouest for a rezone from R -1 to R -3 was recieved on the Naylor property this rezone request was approved by the planring commission. 1r. 1 :inkler moved that council accept this rezone recuest and set a date for public hearing in that regard. seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried. The public hearing for this request will be held April 18, 1966. A request f.r rezone was received by council from Leon Cooke, this matter was referred to the Planning Commission. It was brought out at this time that LIT) 11 will be postponed pending a letter from Puget Western, in regard to a ce.rti street. Mir. Hodge was directed to draw aK AEC resolution of intent relating to the Sewer LID for Interurban Avenue This moved and seconded by Anderson and Bowen motion carried. A proposed study of Highways ixximckkx has been planned, this study includes Auburn, Kent, Renton, Tukwila i and a portion of Pierce county, easterly to the Benson Highway. An orderly study for developement is need. Mr. Anderson moved that council approve this plan authorizing the Mayor to sign the contract, seconded by Mr. Radford and carried. Mr. Ives suggested that a fan of some kind be installed in Council chambers to take care of the problem of smoke. Mr. Hodge stated that a letter was written to Western Bridge in regard to the O.R. Alia contract, that O.R. Alia being agents of the City should be allowed on the bridge. Mr. Hodge stated that all bills pretaining to I.T.i). 10 should be sent to R.L. }Iudson. It was also brought out at this time, that Harstad Associates should be liable Mr. Anderson moved that Mayor Strander be authorized to take the hecessary steps in this regard, seconded by Mr. "inkle r and carried.
