A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON,
PROVIDING AN HONORARY DESIGNATION
OF SOUTHCENTER PARKWAY BETWEEN
TUKWILA PARKWAY AND STRANDER
BOULEVARD AS "JIM HAGGERTON WAY."
WHEREAS, Jim Haggerton served the City of Tukwila as a Planning Commissioner,
Councilmember, and Mayor for a combined 30 years; and
WHEREAS, with the passing of Jim Haggerton, the City of Tukwila lost a dedicated
public servant and a visionary leader who helped shape Tukwila's future; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Mayor, Jim Haggerton provided leadership for many
major development and public projects in the Tukwila Urban Center; and
WHEREAS, the "Policy on the Naming or Renaming of City -Owned Property," as
adopted by Resolution No. 2052, provides the criteria and process for honorary
designations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds the proposed name to be in compliance with the
naming criteria established in Resolution No. 2052;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA,
WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Southcenter Parkway between Tukwila Parkway and Strander Boulevard
shall have an honorary designation as "Jim Haggerton Way."
Section 2. The City Council requests the installation and maintenance of signage at
a prominent and appropriate location to permanently reflect the "Jim Haggerton Way"
honorary designation.
