Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:01pm 2. Roll Call a. Board Members: Steve Miller, Cynthia Chesak, Verna Seal, Gerie Ventura, Robin Boland, Marie Parrish, Cassandra Galante b. Staff: KCLS Staff: Mary Sue Howser; City of Tukwila Staff: John Dunn c. Guest Speaker: Nora Gierloff, Dept. of Community Development Director, City of Tukwila 3. Approval of Agenda and Minutes - May 2, 2023 a. Agenda: Verna Seal motioned to amend the agenda with new item 6C. Page by Page. Steve Miller motioned to approve the minutes as amended. Robin Boland second the motion, all were in favor. b. Minutes: Steve Miller motioned to approve the minutes. Robin Boland second the motion, all were in favor. 4. Public Comment: No public comments 5. Unfinished Business a. 2023 Student Rep open seat status update - Cynthia Chesak introduced Angie Gonzalez as a candidate for the Student Rep position on the board. The Board introduced themselves and talked with Angie about the role. b. Outreach strategy development discussion - Cassie Galante and Mary Sue Howserdiscussed the meetingthey had on how the board can support KCLS in gathering helpful information from the residents of SHAG. c. Joint event with Friends of Tukwila Library - Verna Seal reported on a potential joint event and is continuing to contact the Farmers market to work with them. d. Little Library check in/update -John Dunn reported out on flyers and signs installed at each location. Also reported was the Crestview Little Library was vandalized and needed to have the glass replaced. Extra books are now available at the front desk at TCC for Board or community members to pick up books to restock Little Libraries when needed. 6. New Business a. Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority Presentation - Nora Gierloff presented the information on the current work with the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority and the proposed Annexation Vote on the ballot in November. Tukwila Parks & Recreation Summer Events schedule —John Dunn presented the board with multiple flyers and information regarding summer events and programming. The board asked clarifying questions and discussed the idea of tabling at some events. c. Page by Page— Verna Seal reported out to the board about this organization and sending books to Kenya. There is an opportunity for board members to help box and prep packages and help fundraise if interested. 7. Reports a. KCLS: Mary Sue Howser provided an update of programs and information for the board. b. City of Tukwila: John Dunn provided an update on City and Parks and Recreation events, programs and other information. 8. Other 9. Next Meeting: August 8, 2023 10.
