HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-04-03 Regular MinutesApril 3, 1967 The regular meeting of the Tukwila Jity Council was called to order by the Mayor, John B. 3trander at 8:00 P.m. 'Councilmen present were Stan i•iinkler, A.G. hadford, Ives, nichard A. Bowen, Dwight R. Gardner, Miss Helen Nelsen and Robert B. Anderson. The first order of business was the reading of the minutes of the =March 2Cth meeting, the minutes were approved as read. .r. .inkier move d that the bills approved by the finance committee be allowed, with warrants drawn for their respective amounts, seconded by rlr. ives and carried. The meeting was opened to a Public Hearing at this time, this in regard to a recent annexation request received from Peoples National Bank. After a brief discussion by council Mr. Bowen moved that council approve this request, thereby closing the public hearing, seconded by mr. Anderson and carried. Ar. Hodge will draft an ordinance in this regard. A public hearing in regard to a request for annexation from the 3tandard Oil Property was opened at this time. After discus with council, rr. Bowen moved that the public hearing be closed and that council approve this annexation request, seconded by mr. Ives and carried. An ordinance on t pis annexation will be prepared by the attorney, fir. Hodge. Mr. iepp reported on the number of building permits issued in the month of March. 173 v Mfir. Ives speaking for the Street Conu__ittee stated that no changes had been made on a roadway at soutn 180th and 3outhcenter Parkway. Council ablically thanked r -r. Segele on the improvements on the' street in that area, as to the paving. fir. bodge was instructed to start legal proceedings in regard to ri condemnation of property on 58th Street c this regarding the widening of same). Bowen speaking for the 1 De partment 3tatea that Fire 'thief, Joe Langer and himself visited the r3urien P ire Department, presenting them with a plaque showing our appreciation for 2 ye of gooa service offered our city in regard to handliing our fire calls Chef Langer reported tnat 5 fire calls were answered this past month and a total 290 hours was put in by the volunteer crew. 'r. Dahl of the fire deartment handed out to council specifications on a new rescue unit the Fire Department contemplates on purcihashing. this to be turned oer to rir. Bowen's core ittee for study. Mr. Minkler reported for the Police Co._u.ittee. :r. Gardner rt orted for the r=etro committee. Miss Nelsen rerorted for Public Lulldirrgs end grounds. irr. ..inkier speaking for the Planning Jomrussion state that four public hearings are scheduled for the April 20th meeting, the cor:L issioe _s also working on an underground .rdinance in regard to utilities. Mr. Ives speaking for the ."arks and Eeautification coi.J;iittee stated that an agreement for additional work in the Park was ready for signing,, a discussion on the cost and legal steps to take in the paying of same was fled at this tirr.e, this matter to be tabled for more information. Gradner discussed an Drain._ with council this in reference .,o the proposed drainage plan for finddver Park. .r. hill seo .e to council and pointed out the area and gave the pertinent facts on cost, that would be incurred. lir. Iverson questioned trim plan in this was different from the original, Mr. Fill stated the changes were in the pipe from 36 to 48 inch pipe, and that there would be two 48 inch pipes in place: of one 54 inch pipe. It was brought out at this time that this plan has been approved by the County, Iverson asked if action could be postponed on the adoption of this plan until such time as some Spokane officials could study the project. liter much discussion by council it was' agreed to postpone this until the mid-month meeting of April. eitn .r.
