PUBLIC HEARING
An ordinance amending various ordinances as codified in Tukwila Municipal Code (TMC) Chapter
21.04, "State Environmental Policy Act."
7:02p.nn. Council President Delostrinos Johnson opened the public hearing and called for a staff
report.
Nora Gierloff, Community Development Director, explained this item is part of the Department's effibrts to
streamline and update permit processes. The proposed ordinance raises the size of projects (threshold)
that require State Environmental Policy Aot(SEPA) review so more applications are exempt, given the
City can document existing regulations in place to provide adequate environmental pro0action,
nonourrenoy, traffic mihgadon, and design standards. While reducing the number of applications subject
to SEPA would reduce permit revenue, it would result in a modest reduction in staff workload and provide
process streamlining for applicants.
