It is understood that onsite infiltration is proposed for disposal of storm water, and that additional information is required regarding depth to groundwater and the nature of the subsoils that will absorb this water. EXISTING CONDITIONS The subject property consists of nearly 7.600 square feet and is shaped as a rectangle. The parcel is overgrown with weeds and grass. Reportedly a structure was previously located on the property and was demolished 8 to 10 years ago. The property is essentially flat lying. There was no visual evidence of standing or flowing water. No hydrophilic plants were observed on the property. Subsurface Soil and Ground Water Conditions In order to characterize the subsurface soil and shallow ground water condition on the property a series of 3 exploration pits were excavated on the parcel. The following soil logs describes the observed conditions. EP-1 — west central area — west of proposed house location 0.0' — 3.5' 3.5' — 5.0' 5.0' — 6.0' loose, damp, tan, silty SAND with debris (concrete, wood, plastic) (SM) [FILL] medium dense, damp, brown, silty, fine to medium SAND, trace gravel, mottled and highly oxidized (SM) [WEATHERED GLACIAL TILL] very dense, damp, gray, silty, fine to medium SAND, with gravel (SM) [GLACIAL TILL] 206-819-4304 CORRECTION LTR# " . All 3 exploration pits were underlain by glacial till. Fill materials were present on the back (western) portion of the parcel overlying the till. The front portion of the parcel contained recessional lacustrine overlying the till. Conclusions and Opinions The subject site is underlain at shallow depth by relatively impermeable glacial till sediments (very dense silty sand with gravel). As evidenced by the highly oxidized sediments overlying the till at a depth of about 2 feet, seasonal ground water perches atop the till. As such, in accordance with KCSWM, it is our opinion that the subject property is not suitable for infiltration of storm water. In addition, the owner/builder must be aware of the unsuitable fill soils encountered in EP-1 and possibly in EP-2. Foundations for new structures must not be supported on the undocumented fill soils but must fully penetrate through the fill soils onto the underlying medium dense or better, native, glacial till soils. Our findings and recommendations provided in this report were prepared in accordance with generally accepted principles of engineering geology and geotechnical engineering as practiced in the Puget Sound area at the time this report was submitted. We make no other warranty, either express or implied. 206-819-4304 Gary A. See BCSI1, 2. Truss bracing must be designed by an engineer. For wide truss spacing, individual lateral braces themselves may require bracing, or alternative T, I, or Eliminator bracing should be considered. 3. Never exceed the design loading shown and never stack materials on inadequately braced Trusses. 4. Provide copies of this truss design to the building designer, erection supervisor, property owner and all other interested parties. 5. Cut members to bear lightly against each other. 6, Place plates on each face of truss at each joint and embed fully. Knots and wane at joint locations are regulated by ANSIITPI 1. 7. Design assumes trusses will be suitably protected from the environment in accord with ANSIITPI 1. 8. Unless otherwise noted, moisture content of lumber shall not exceed 19% at lime of fabrication, 9. Unless expressly noted, this design is not applicable for use with fire retardant, preservative treated, or green lumber, 10. Camber is a non-structural consideration and is the responsibility of truss fabricator, General practice is to camber for dead load deflection, 11, Plate type, size, orientation and location dimensions indicated are minimum plating requirements. 12. Lumber used shall be of the species and size, and in all respects, equal to or better Than that specified, 13, Top chords must be sheathed or purlins provided at spacing indicated on design, 14. Bottom duds require lateral bracing at 10 ft. spacing, or less, it no ceiling is installed, unless otherwise noted, 15. Connections not shown are the responsibility of others. 16. Do not cut or alter truss member or plate without prior approval of an engineer. 17. Install and load vertically unless indicated otherwise. 18. Use of green or treated lumber may pose unacceptable environmental, health or performance risks. Consult with project engineer before use. 19. Review all portions of this design (front, back, words and pictures) before use, Reviewing pictures alone is not sufficient. 20. Truss bracing must be designed by an engineer, For wide truss spacing, individual lateral braces themselves may require bracing, or alternative T, I, or Eliminator bracing should be considered, Never exceed the design loading shown and never stack materials on inadequately braced trusses. 4. Provide copies of this tmss design to the building designer, erection supervisor, property owner and all other interested parties, 5, Cul members to bear lightly against each other. 6, Place plates on each face of truss at each joint and embed fully.
