than 72 inches (1829 mm) above the finished grade or other surface below on
the exterior of the building, the operable window shall comply with one of the
following:
Operable windows where the openings will not allow a 4-inch-diameter
(102 mm) sphere to pass through the opening when the window is in its
largest opened position.

This letter is to inform you of corrections that must be addressed before your development permit can be approved. All
correction requests from each department must be addressed at the same time and reflected on your drawings. I have
enclosed comments from the following departments:
BUILDING DEPARTMENT: LEE SIPE at (206)-431-3656 if you have questions regarding these comments.
Window number 2 in bedroom number 4 does not meet the emergency escape opening requirements. Pick a
window that meets the opening requirement.
2015 International Residential Code:
R310.2 Emergency escape and rescue openings. Emergency escape and rescue openings shall have minimum
dimensions as specified in this section.
R310.2.1 Minimum opening area. Emergency and escape rescue openings shall have a net clear opening of not less
than 5.7 square feet. The net clear opening dimensions
required by this section shall be obtained by the normal operation of the emergency escape and rescue opening
from the inside. The net clear height opening shall be not less than 24 inches and the net clear width shall be not
less than 20 inches.
Please address the comments above in an itemized format with applicable revised plans, specifications, and/or other
documentation. The City requires that two (2) sets of revised plan pages, specifications and/or other documentation be
resubmitted with the appropriate revision block.
In order to better expedite your resubmittal, a 'Revision Submittal Shed must accompany every resubmittal. I have
enclosed one for your convenience. Corrections/revisions must be made in person and will not be accepted through the mail
or by a messenger service.
