The regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council w s called to orc<er ter the
Mayor, John B. Strander at 8:00 P.M. Councilmen present were Stan ';inkier, .G.
Radford, F.: Ives, T?wight R. Gardner and Robert 1?. \nderson.
The minutes of Lhe July 17th meeting were approved as read.
Yr. Minkler moved that all the hills approved 17 the finance committee
be allowed, with warrants drawn for their respective amounts, seconded by hr.
Ives, motion carried.

The meeting was opened to a Public Hearing at this tune, t' i s in regard to
a rezone request (commonly known as the Mitchell property) Kr. Alvin Harrison of
the Planing commission spoke to council about another piece of property in the
area of the Mitchell property that would be under discussion for rezone, at the
next meeting of the Planning Commission. Mr. Harrison stated that one problem of
the Mitchell property was the access to the property, therefore if the ,A)hule would
be involved, this would elinate that problem. Mr. Mitchell speaking from the audience
stated that if the feasibility of a rezone would be greater, with the additional parcel
of land p for discussion he would be more than willing; to waive the Public hearing at
thi o wait for the discussion of the Planning and the zoning reouest on tn.r- other
property, this discussion by the Planning Commission to be held on the 17th of August.
To proceed from that point. Nr. Ernest Onorati stated that many changes had been
slated for the area, but after discussion these plans were tabled in favor of the
original zoning and amendment to Ordinance 251, therefore :`r. Onorati contends that
that we should not make any changes now. After brief discussion by council
moved that the public hearing be postponed urtil such time as the Flanning Commission
can study this rezone request from both the Mitchell and the Hackett property. this
motion seconded by hr. Ives and carried.
Ur. ILinkler, speaking for the Planning Commission, read a letter in regard to
a request from vrs. _'acri, asking a change in zoning of property. Tt was the re-
commendation of the Planning Commission to deny this rezone request. Mr. I'intler moved
that council set a puielic hearing date in this regard for September 1,67 seconded
by Mr. Ives and carried.
gr. Crostick spoke to council about the proposed plans of the State Highway rcpt.
in regard to the changing of Interurban ':venue to a four lane highway. `r. Crostick
stated that the Chamber of Commerce and the interested property owners in the area are
urging further meetings with the State Highway Department, to rurt' discuss the plans
the Tukwila area. Mr. Minkler read a letter from the property owners, which stated the
revised plans for Interurban Avenue, that would be satisfactory to all involved.
`r. Minkler moved that council adopt the resolution of the Flanning Commission, on the
Interurban Avenue issue, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried
tir. Zepp reported on the number of building permits issued in the month of July.
Mr. Radford reported for the Street committee. Mr. f'in'der speaking for the ater
Committee stated that the new water line installed on 144th was completed and working.
Mr. Anderson had nothing to report on Sanitation. Mr. !ves speaking for the Fire Dept.
stated that the bid from the suburb_n dodge and the Servis Duality Body shop are under
consideration and that the Fire Department would meet to finalize this bid acceptance
at the meeting on August 9, 1967, therefore Mr. Ives moved that council accept the
the Fire Departments decision in this regard, seconded by I --r. Anderson and carried.
Mr. Minkler reported for the Police Department. Mr. Gardner speaking for Metro stated
that the attorney has the rough draft of the Street Use Permit. Speaking for the
Parks and Beautification committee, Mr. Ives made note, that the Tukwila Day celebration
with dance at the park, was a great success. Pr. Ives had no report for. the School
committee. Yr. Ives speaking for the License committee spoke about 'unk cars in the area
which were being stripped, these should be towed away by the owner. in question.
Mrs. Schoenhackler spoke to council in regard to the street signs, showing the
the new name of Southcenter Parkway. Mrs. Schoenbac'kler spoke to council .about the
Rock crusher being operated in an M -2 zoning and brought, out the fact that the Asphalt
Plant is a disturbance because of the noise.
Ordinance 493 was presented to council at this time, this in regard to annexing
property to Tukwila (the Edwards property) rr. 4nderson moved that Drdinance 493 be
placed on its first reading, seconded by Mr. Gardner and carried. mr. Anderson moved that
Ordinance 493 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Kr. Gardner and carried.
Mr. Anderson moved that Ordinance 11 493 be placed on its third and final reading for
adoption, seconded by Air. Ives and carried.
Ordinance #494 amending the legal di_scription of ordinances 35 360 and 361
was presented to council at this time. Hr. Anderson moved that Ordinance 494 be placed
on its first reading, seconded by Mr. Ives and carried. fir. Anderson gloved that Ordinance
494 be placed on its second reading, seconded by Mr. Radford and carried. 7r. Anderson
moved that Ordinance 494 be placed on its third and final reading for adoption, seconded
by Mr. Ives and carried.
An Ordinance in regard to Traffic Rules for the City of Tukwila was presented
to council at this time. lair. Ives moved that Ordinance 495 be placed on its first
reading, seconded by Mr. Minkler and carried. Yr. Iiin'cler moved that. Ordinance %f 495
be placed on its second reading, seconded by I°"r. Ives and carried. Mr. Tves moved that
Ordinance 495 be placed on its third and final reading for adoption, seconded by
Mr. Minkler and carried. Passage of Ordinance #495 completely repeals Ordinance a 211.
Mr. Todd questioned council, in regard to the newly =installed water line on
144th Street. Mr. Zepp stated that a total of 1490 feet of pipe was laid with a
cost of approximately $5,600.00. Mr. Radford questioned council as to any action being
taken on the developnee t of the old Lundberg property. Mr. Zepp stated that a G.O. Bond
would help correct water problem, raising of the water rates or revenue bonds would
be another solution. Mr. Ives stated that cost estimates should be drafted as soon as
possible.
Mrs. T'1akami spoke to council in regard to the dusty road in front of her home,
stating that the Baugh Construction Company will no water the road, as promised.
Mr. Zepp will look into this and if necessary turn this matter over to the Police
Department
