DATE OF ISSUANCE, OR IF THE WORK IS SUSPENDED OR ABANDONED FOR A PERIOD OF 180 DAYS FROM THE
LAST INSPECTION.
Sign permit inspections are conducted once a month. This allows approximately 30.days for the sign to be
manufactured and installed. Please let us know if more time is needed.
If payment for the job is pending final inspection approval, please provide the sign permit information by email
to max.baker@tukwilawa.gov or call 206-431-3683 and we will complete the inspection within
five (5) business days.
Electrical permits and inspections occur independent of this permit.

Subject: Corrections requested for sign permit S 17-0047-AT&T-located at 16425 Southcenter Parkway,
Tukwila WA 98188.
Dear Mr. Santos
On July 26th, 2017, the Department of Community Development received your application for a sign
permit at AT&T located at 16425 Southcenter Parkway, Tukwila WA 98188.
Review of the document showed that there were additional corrections needed to the proposal before we
could proceed with the sign permitting process. Per the Tukwila Municipal Code, "any period of time
during which the applicant has been requested by any City department, agency or hearing body with
jurisdiction over some aspect of the application to correct plans, perform required studies, or provide
additional information. If the applicant fails to provide a request correction of additional information
within 90 days of the request the Department may cancel the application due to inactivity." (TMC
18.104.130-1B).
The following corrections are required to this sign permit application:
1. Monument signs must fit within the guidelines presented in the Tukwila Municipal Code. Table
1 under section 19.20.040 of TMC states a premises that has a Right of way that less than 400
feet can have a freestanding monument sign that has a maximum height of 6ft. The monument
sign proposed does not fit within these guidelines.
2. Per section 19.20.050 of the Tukwila, "each separate tenant suite with an exterior public
entrance is permitted to have one flush -mounted building sign per exterior public entrance."
(TMC 19.20.505). This building has one public entrance. Three (3) exterior building signs have
been proposed in this permit application, when only one is allowed on the premises.
3. The building is also not larger than 25,000 square feet and does not qualify for an additional
flush -mounted building mounted sign. Flush mounted sign on south side of building (S3) will not
be permitted at this location. (TMC 19.20.050 A).
4. Sign area calculations for sign S1 and S2 are incorrect. Please review sign application that is
attached for instructions on how to calculate total sign area for sign permit applications

The City's sign code permits a variety of building mounted signs, including wall signs, signs on awnings, canopy signs and
projecting signs. This sign permit application can be used to determine the total number of building mounted signs permitted
for your business. The application also provides the specific code standards for the common types of building mounted signs;
see TMC 19 Sign Code for details. Please note that you may not qualify for all signage types outlined in this application.
Wall Sign
Each public entrance is eligible for either a flush mounted wall sign or an awning face sign.
In some cases an additional wall sign maybe permitted on walls that do not have entrances, see Section 2 of this application.

Incentive Signage Provision
Businesses may be permitted additional flush -mounted building signage on walls fronting their tenant spaces that do not
qualify for the signage described in Section 19.20.50.A, under the following circumstances:
a. The business or use may not have any other building -mounted signage oriented in the same direction as the incentive
sign.
b. Architectural interest must be provided through at least one of the following methods:
1) At least 50 percent of the wall area between the height of two and seven feet must be transparent with either an
unobstructed view into the business or use, or a display window with a depth of at least three feet.
2) Architectural detailing consistent with the building design using changes in color, materials, texture and
variations in the wall plane.
3) Artwork such as mosaic, mural or sculptural relief over at least 50 percent of the wall surface.
4) One or more trellises covering at least 50 percent of the wall area between the height of two and seven feet,
planted with climbing vines and other plant materials in a planting bed at least two feet in width and provided
with permanent irrigation.
5) The allowable area of the sign is 50 percent of that calculated in "Table 22 — Allowable Message Area for
Permanent Wall Signs in Commercial and industrial Zones."
