PERMIT CONDITIONS:
l: All mechanical work shall be inspected and approved under a separate permit issued by the City of Tukwila
Permit Center (20G/431-367O).
3: All permits, inspection record card and approved construction documents shall bekept at the site ofwork
and shall be open to inspection by the Building Inspector until final inspection approval is granted.
3: Manufacturers installation instructions shall be available on the job site at the time of inspection.
4: Equipment and appliances having an ignition source and located in hazardous locations and public garages,
PRIVATE GARAGES, repair garages, automotive motor -fuel dispensing facilities and parking garages shall be
elevated such that the source of ignition isnot less than 1Oinches above the floor surface onwhich the
equipment orappliance rests.
5: Contact The Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau to witness all required inspections and tests. (City Ordinances

6: Remote indicator lights are required nnall above ceiling smoke detectors. (City Ordinance #Z437)
7: All new fire alarm systems or modifications to existing systems shall have the written approval of The
Tukwila Fire Prevention Bureau. Nuwork shall commence until ufire department permit has been

8: H.V.A.C. units rated at greater than 2,000 cfm require auto -shutdown devices. These devices shall be
separately zoned in the alarm panel and local U1, central station supervision is required. (City Ordinance

9: H.V.AI. systems supplying air in excess cfZ,80Ocubic feet per minute toenclosed spaces within buildings
shall beequipped with anautomatic shutoff. Automatic shutoff shall heaccomplished byinterrupting the
power source of the air -moving equipment upon detection of smoke in the main return -air duct served by
such equipment. Smoke detectors shall be labeled by an approved agency for air -duct installation and shall

NOTICE
Due to regulatory compliance, mercury contactor electric heat control is not permitted in several localities
including but not limited tmthe following Interstate Mercury Education and Reduction Clearinghouse (I&VERC)
state members: Connecticut, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode
Island and Vermont. &naddition the following states do not permit mercury contactor electric heat control
based omstate legislation: California, Illinois, Maryland and Wisconsin. Check local regulations prior to
se/ectimgVnstailing mercury contactor electric heat control.
General Unit Information
Casing - The unit casing is 22 gauge galvanized steel. Outlet duct connection is flanged.
Total metal encapsulation of all insulation edges. Hanger Brackets provided. Side access is provided.

Agency Listing - UL and Canadian UL listed as environmental air terminal unit. ULControl #9NU5. All Tnaneterminal
units are AHR|8MO-88certified.
General Unit Clearance
Leave a minimum of 36" on control box side of unitfor adequate service access. Allow at least 12" on remaining sides for
unit clearance. A minimum of one and one half duct diameters of straight duct work, upstream of the air inlet connection,
should be present for optimum airflow measurement performance. Upstream duct work should be the same diameter as
the primary inlet connection.

IMPORTANT. Field Wirinct
Most fan -powered VAV terminal units with electric reheat require a neutral connection from building power, however,
some configurations donot. In order to prevent a building wiring issue once the boxes are installed, the wiring diagrams
and field wiring installation for each unit MUST be checked to determine whether the neutral is required or not required.

The interior surface of the unit casing is acoustically and thermally lined with 1", 1.5|b/cu.fLcomposite density glass
fiber with high density facing. The insulation iaULlisted and meets NFPA-9UAand UL181standards. All insulation
options will meet the 25/5Osmoke developed and flame spread rating (per ASTK4 E84and UL723and CAN/ULC
S102-M88) Meets NFPA- 90B. No exposed edges of insulation [complete metal encapsulation]. The insulation R-value
is 3.85. All cut edges of insulation are completely encapsulated in metal to prevent erosion.

12" Inlet designed for up to 2000.0 cfm. Fan is 1100.0 cfm for Stid Motor and 1085.0 cfm for ECM Motor.
Air Valvm& Fan Description (Para|leU
The air inlet connection is an 18 gauge galvanized steel cylinder sized to fit standard round duct. A multiple point,
averaging flow sensing ring is provided with balancing taps for measuring airflow within +/- 5% of unit cataloged airflow.
Also provided with each unit is a calibration chart indicating airflow versus flow sensor pressure differential. The damper
blade is constructed of a closed cell foam seal mechanically locked between two 22 gauge galvanized steel disks. The
damper blade assembly is connected through a cast zinc stub axle and shaft supported by self lubricating bearings. The
shaft is cast with a damper position indicator. The valve assembly includes a mechanical stop to prevent over stroking.

The ECM motor is a single speed brushless DC motor with integrated controller. Motor and fan assembly are isolated

Fuse
Any electric heat unit with a calculated MCA greater or equal to 30 will have a fan fuse provided.
Electric Heat Coil
Factory provided and mounted. Resistance open -type heater, a disc -type automatic thermal primary safety device and
manual reset load thermal secondary device. Heater element material is nickel -chromium. The heater terminal box is
provided with knockouts for customer power supply. Terminal connections are plated steel with ceramic or phenolic
insulators. All fan -powered units with electric reheat are single -point power connections.
Transformer
The 50 VA transformer is factory mounted in the fan control box to provide 24 VAC for controls.
Mercury Contactor
An electric heater 24 volt contact for use with Direct Digital Control (D.D.C.) or Analog Electronic VAV Controls. Due to
regulatory compliance issues, mercury contactors may not be used in several localities. Check local
regulations before using mercury electric heater control.
Power Disconnect Switch (for VSEF & VPEF)
A factory provided interlocking door disconnect switch located on the electric heater control panel.
Airflow Switch
An air pressure device designed to disable the heater when the unit fan is off.
Power Fuse
Fuses provided on all energized lines of incoming power to interrupt circuit overcurrent conditions.
Flanged Connection
A rectangular opening on the unit discharge to accept a 90 degree flanged duct work connection.
Controls Option ENCL- Shaft Only
This control option is for field mounting of 24 volt actuator and controls on the units external shaft. ENCL is only for use
with DDC and Analog Electronic controls.
Controls Transformer
The 50 VA transformer is factory mounted in the fan control box to provide 24 VAC for customer supplied controls.

Air Valve Round
The air inlet connection is an 18 gauge galvanized steel cylinder sized to fit standard round duct. A multiple point,
averaging flow sensing ring is provided with balancing taps for measuring within +/- 5% of unit cataloged airflow. An
airflow versus pressure differential calibration chart is provided. The damper blade is constructed of a closed cell foam
seal mechanically locked between two 22gauge galvanized steel disks. The damper blade assembly ioconnected
through mcast zinc stub axle and shaft supported byself lubricating bearings. The shaft iacast with odamper position
indicator. The valve assembly includes a mechanical stop to prevent over stroking. At 4.0" w.g. air valve leakage does
not exceed 1% of cataloged o|dlovv.
Slip & Drive Connection
A slip and drive connection has two straight flanges on the top and bottom, and two drive connections on the left and
right sides. This is a standard option on all VAVs|ng|e duct terminal units.

General R-410A
The units shall be downflow, horizontal, or mixed airflow. The operating range shall be between 115'F and O'F in
cooling as standard from the factory for all units. Cooling performance shall be rated in accordance with AHRI testing
procedures. All units oho|( be factory assembled, internally wired, fully charged with R'410A refrigerant and 100f6 run
tested to check cooling operation, fan and blower rotation and control sequence before leaving the factory. Wiring
internal to the unit shall be numbered for simplified identification. Units shall be cULus listed.
Compressors R410A
The 3-D Scroll shall provide a completely enclosed compressor chamber with optimized scroll profiles which leads to
increased efficiency, The 3-D Scroll shall include a direct -drive, 3600 rpm, suction gas cooled hermetic motor. The
compressor shall include a centrifugal oil pump, scroll tips seals, internal heat shield that lowers the heat transfer from
discharge and suction gas, oil level sight glass and oil charge valve. Some compressor models shall also provide a dip
tube that allows for oil draining, in addition to a low leakage internal discharge check valve to help prevent refrigerant
migration. Each compressor shall have a crankcase heater installed, properly sized to minimize the amount ofliquid
refrigerant present inthe oil sump during off cycles.
Casing
Unit casing shall be constructed of zinc coated, heavy gauge, galvanized steel. Cabinet surface shall be tested 672
hours insalt spray incompliance with A8TK813117,All components shall bemounted inoweather resistant steel
cabinet with a painted exterior. Where top cover seams exist, they shall be double hemmed and gasket sealed to
prevent water leakage. Cabinet construction shall allow for all maintenance on one side of the unit. Service panels shall
have handles and shall be removable while providing a water and air tight seal. Control box access shall be hinged. The
indoor air section shall be completely insulated with fire resistant, permanent, odorless, foil faced glass fiber material.
The base ofthe unit shall have provisions for crane lifting.
Hinged Service Access
Filter access panel and supply fan access panel shall be hinged for ease of unit service.
High Efficiency Unit
This option shall provide five stages of mechanical cooling with the ability to be at or below 25% compressor
displacement at stage one. Service valves shall also be provided factory installed and include suction and discharge
3'wmyshutoff valves.
Phase and Voltage Monitor
Standard on all Voyager Commercial units. Shall protects 3-phase equipment from phase loss, phase reversal, and low
voltage. Any fault condition shall send the unit into an auto stop condition. cULus approved,
Refrigerant Circuits
Each refrigerant circuit shall have independent thermostatic expansion devices, service pressure ports and refrigerant
line filter driers factory -installed as standard. An area shall be provided for replacement suction line driers.
Outdoor Fans
The outdoor fan shall be direct -drive statically and dynamically balanced, draw through in the vertical discharge position.
The fan motors shall be permanently lubricated and have built-in thermal overload protection.
Evaporator and Condenser Coils -R41OA
Condenser coils shall have all Aluminum yWinroohanne|coils. Evaporator coils shall bainternally finned Copper tubes
mechanically bonded to high performance Aluminum plate fins. All coils shall be leak tested at the factory toensure
pressure integrity. The evaporator coil is pressure tested to 450 psig and the condenser coil at 650 psig. All dual circuit
evaporator coils shall be of intermingled configuration. Sloped condensate drain pans are standard.
H2Stage Gas Heat
The heating section shall have a drum and tube heat exchanger(s) design with primary and secondary surfaces of
corrosion resistant aluminized steel or optional stainless steel. A forced combustion blower shall supply premixed fuel to
a single burner ignited by a pilotless hot surface ignition system. In order to provide reliable operation, a regulated gas
valve shall be used that requires blower operation to initiate gas flow. On an initial call for heat, the combustion
blower shall purge the heat uxohonger(o)4Sseconds before ignition. After three unsuccessful ignition attempts, the
entire heating system shall belocked out until manually reset at the thermostat. Two stage gas heat units shall ba
suitable for use with natural gas or propane (field installed kit). Gas heat units comply with California requirements for
|ovv NOx emissions.

'Indoor Fan, 60 Hz Supply Motor
Unit will have belt driven, forward curve, centrifugal fans with fixed motor sheaves. The supply fan motors will be circuit
breaker protected. All OOHzsupply fan motors meet the Energy Independence and Security Act of20OS(BSA).
Variable Frequency Drive
Unit shall include factory -installed and tested variable frequency drive[s] (VFD) to provide motor speed modulation. The
VFDshall receive m0'10VDCspeed signal from the unit controller. The drive will respond bothe signal byaccelerating
or decelerating to maintain the controlling set point (duct static, space pressure, etc). VFO shall also include the
following features:
1. Designed, constructed, and tested inaccordance with NEMA|CS.NFPA.and |ECstandards and housed ino
plastic IP20 enclosure.
2. DClink reactors onboth the positive and negative rails ofthe DCbus equal to396impedance tominimize power
line harmonics.
3. Full rated output current continuously -11O%ofrated current for 0Oseconds and 160Y6ofrated current for upUo
0.5 second while starting.
4. Isolation between the Ohve'spower circuitry and control circuitry Unensure operator safety and Voprotect
connected electronic control equipment from damage caused by
voltage spikes, current surges, and ground loop currents.
5. Audible noise reduction through automatic adjustment of the carrier frequency and frequency avoidance.

Motor Shaft Grounding Ring
Motors shall have internal bearing protection for use withVFDs to provide a conductive discharge path away from the
motor bearings to ground, Bearing Protection Rings shall be circumferential rings with conductive micro fibers which
provide the path of least resistance and dramatically extend motor life.
Modulating 100 Percent Exhaust Fan with Statitrac Control Option
A differential pressure control system, (Statitrac), shall use a differential pressure transducer to compare indoor building
pressure to outdoor ambient atmospheric pressure and shall turn the exhaust fans on and off and modulate the

'barometric exhaust dampers tocontrol the building pressure to within the adjustable, specified dead band that shall be
adjustable at the RTVM board.
Ultra Low Leak Exhaust
The exhaust damper shall be provided with airfoil blades and independent direct drive actuator.Damper shall have a
leakage rate of 3 CFM/sq-ft at 1.0 in WC pressure differential (AMCA Class 1A). Damper shall have a functional life of
60.O00opening & closing cycles and have o5'yearwarranty.

Economizer with Dry Bulb Control
An economizer shall be factory installed. The assembly shall include: 0 -100 percent fully modulating dampers,
minimum position setting, preset linkage, wiring harness, and fixed dry bulb control.
Ultra Low Leak Economizer
The return air and fresh air dampers shall be provided with airfoil blades and independent direct drive actuators.
Dampers shall have aleakage rate of 3 CFM/sq-ft at 1.0 in WC pressure differential (AMCA Class 1 A). Dampers shall
have a functional life of 60,000 opening & closing cycles and have a 5-year warranty,

Controls
Unit shall be completely factory wired with necessary controls and terminal block for power wiring. Units shall provide an
external location for mounting fused disconnect device. ReliaTel controls shall be provided for all 24 volt control
functions. The resident control algorithms shall make all heating, cooling and/or ventilating decisions in response to
electronic signals from sensors measuring indoor and outdoor temperatures. The control algorithm maintains aoounabm
temperature contno|, minimizes drift from set point and provides better building comfod. Fle|iaTe| controls shall provide
anti -short cycle timing and time delay between compressors to provide a higher level of machine protection.
Unit Interrupt Rating (High Fault Short Circuit Current Rating-SCCR)
An optional 65,000 Amp rating (480V) and 25,000 Amp rating (60OV) shall be applied to the unit enclosure using a
non -fused circuit breaker for disconnect switch purposes. Fan motors, compressors, and electric heat circuits shall be
included with protective devices that will provide the elevated level of fault protection. The unit shall be marked with
approved oULummarkings and will adhere tocULusregulations.
BACnet Communications
The BACnet communications interface shall allow the unit to communicate directly with a generic open protocol BACnet
MS/TP Network Building Automation System Controls.
0PConversion Kit
Field installed conversion kit shall provide orifice(s) for simplified conversion to liquefied propane gas. No change of gas
valve shall barequired.
