To the extent that the city is interested in engaging the community on their finances and expanding the understanding of what it takes to run the city, while also collaborating on fiscal recommendations for city services, taxes and fees, I find this encouraging and share such an idea. This helps with public education, smart financial management and transparency while shows inclusion to community and engagement. I have over 20 years creating and managing large budgets and operating businesses which should facilitate and compliment this committee's objectives. I've also worked with city organizations, boards, commissions and non -profits so have insight into the different needs and challenges each face. 2. I am interested in serving on the city committee because of my deep commitment to understanding and contributing to the financial well-being of the Tukwila community. The prospect of delving into the intricacies of the city's finances is not only intellectually stimulating for me but also aligns perfectly with my passion for community development. The topic of funding for housing and climate change policies came up during discussions, but not many answers were available. I would love to be a part of this process to see our city plans come to fruition. I am interested in serving the community while advocating for the average resident via progressive revenue sources. It is frustrating to advocate for change in the community, but be told funding will be the largest hurdle-- not popularity or implementation. We purchased a home and have 3 childred who will come up through the school district, we plan for this to be our forever home. Since moving to Tukwila, everything has exceeded our expectations. I would like to give back while at the same time, working to ensure that the positive aspects of living here remain sound. Some of the best parts of living here (sense of community, community events, children's activities) were completely unknown to us before moving. However, they have made a major impact on our lives. I'm amazed at what Tukwila provides, and would love to be a part of keeping it sustainable. I have a unique perspective. I am a former small business owner and former high school math teacher.
