HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-03-11 Special MinutesMarch 11, 1968 A special meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to ordar. at 8:00 P. M. by Mayor Stan Minkler. Council members present were Richard A. Bowen, Dwight R. Gardner, Robert B. Anderson, Helen B. Nelsen, Tom Forsythe, Larry D. Popejoy and L. E. Crostick. The meeting was called to discuss the four following questions; The Williams rezone petition, bid for publication of legal notices, rezone petition fees and the developer agreements. Mr. Williams appeared before the council and presented a topographic map of the area in question and preliminary plans for a luxury apartment building. Mr. Crostick reviewed the recommendation of the Planning Commission. Mr. Bowen questioned Mr. Williams as to the plans for extension of 62nd Avenue South and Mr. Williams stated he will develcp said street to the northern edge of his property. Water service has been extended by Mr. Williams to the southern edge of the property. The proposed building would be 80 to 90 feet in ;eight. After further discussion, Mr. Crostick made a motion for council approval of the rezone petition from R -1 and R -3 to R -4. Motion seconded by Mr. Anderson and passed with Mr. Popejoy casting a dissenting vote, March 1 1 1968 ('Con 't Mr. Popejoy made a motion a public hearing be set for April 1, 1968 at 8:00 PM in regard to Mr. Williams request for a height varriance on the R -4 zoning. Motion seconded by Mr. Bowen and carried. Mr. Bowen reviewed the bids received from the Highline Times and The Record Chronicle. After further discussion and questions to representatives of both newspapers, Mr. Bowen made a motion the bid for publication of the citys legal notices be awarded to the Record— Chronicle on the basis of proposal #1; $3.00 per hundred words, first publication and $2.20 per hundred words subsequent publications in the 8 point type. Motion seconded by Miss Nelsen and carried with Mr. Crostick casting a dissenting vote. The representative of the Highline Times also requested copies of the legal notices be sent to his newspaper for information. Mr. Crostick reported on his research into the matter of the fees charged by other cities on rezone requests, which in most cases is $50.00. Other requirements and regulations used by other cities were also discussed. Mr. Crostick made a motion a public hearing be set for April 15, 1968 at 8:00 PM to consider amending Ordinance 251. Motion seconded by Miss Nelsen and carried. Mayor Minkler reported the developers were working with the City Attorney on the agreements. ATTEST: Meeting adjourned at 9:25 P. M. CTERV M AYOR 269
