Mayor Stan D. Minkler at 8 :00 P.M. Council members present were Richard
A. Bowen, Dwight R. Gardner, Robert B. Anderson, Helen B. Nelsen, L. E.
Crostick, and Joseph R. Johanson.
Mr. Bowen made a motion the absence of Thomas M. Forsythe be excused.
Motion seconded by Mr. Gardner and carried.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
CURRENT CLAIMS
Mr. Bowen made a motion claims approved by the Finance Committee be paid
with warrants drawn in their respective amounts. Motion seconded by
Miss Nelsen and carried.
FOLLOWING THE CLAIMS:
Current Expense 16,660.49 Street 3,227.27
Water 3,391.55 Sewer 3,882.02
Water Sewer Const 17,507.17
ORDINANCE 590
A proposed ordinance authorizing a 16 mill tax levy for 1970 budget
purposes was introduced. Mr. Anderson made a motion the proposed
ordinance be placed on its first reading by title only. Motion seconded
by Miss Nelsen and carried. Mr. Bowen made a motion the proposed
ordinance be placed on its second reading by title only. Motion seconded
by Mr. Gardner and carried. Mr. Anderson made a motion the proposed
ordinance be placed on its third and final reading for adoption, by
title only. Motion seconded by Mr. Johanson and carried.
BUILDING PERMITS
Mr. Zepp reported 10 permits had been issued buring September with a
valuation of $1,653,907.00 and permit fees of $2,383.50.
CARD ROOM LICENSE APPLICATION
An application for a card room license was received from the Sportsman
Club. No place of business was indicated on the application. Since
City of Tukwila Ordinance specifically requires the application for a
card room license must contain the address where the proposed business is
to be located, Mr. Johanson recommended the application be denied. The
council concurred with Mr. Johanson's recommendation.
PURCHASE ORDERS
Mr. Crostick requested a purchase order system be installed for tighter
budget control. Mr. Bowen was appointed to work with the City Clerk in
establishing such a system.
General discussion was held on various questions. There being no further
business to come before the council, Mr. Anderson made a motion the
meeting adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 9:10.
