The regular meeting of the Tukwila City Council was called to order by
Mayor Stan D. Minkler at 8:05 P.M. Council members present were: R. A.
Bowen, D. R. Gardner, L. E. Crostick, J. R. Johanson, G. D. Hill, P. F.
Dunning and A. G. Radford.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the previous council meeting were approved.
APPROVAL OF CLAIMS
Mr. Bowen made a motion claims approved by the Council be paid with
warrants drawn in their respective amounts. Motion seconded by Mr. Gardner
and ca ±ried. Following the claim-:
Claims Fund Warrants 294 through 330
WATER CONSTRUCTION JOB
A letter was received from the City of Seattle Water Department confirming
the cost of installation of two 12 inch meters for the water con truction
job.
ORDINANCE 609 CONFIRMING LID 13 ASSESSMENT ROLL
A proposed ordinance approving and confirming the assessments and
assessment roll of LID 13 was summarized by Mr. Hodge. Mr. Gardner made
a motion the proposed ordinance be placed on its first reading by title
only. Motion seconded by Mr. Johanson and carried. Mr. Johanson made a
motion the proposed ordinance be placed on its second reading by title only.
Motion seconded by Mr. Gardner and carried. Mr. Dunning made a motion the
proposed ordinance be placed on its third and final reading for adoption,
by title only. Motion seconded by Mr. Johanson and carried. This being
ordinance 609.
ORDINANCE 610 CONFIRMING LID 15 ASSESSMENT ROLL
A proposed ordinance approving and confirming the assessments and
assessment roll of LID 15 was summarized by Mr. Hodge. Mr. Bowen made a
motion the proposed ordinance be placed on its first reading by title only.
Motion seconded by Mr. Dunning and carried. Mr. Gardner made a motion the
proposed ordinance be placed on its second reading by title only. Motion
seconded by Mr. Dunning and carried. Mr. Johanson made a motion the
proposed ordinance be placed on its third and final reading for adoption,
by title only. Motion seconded by Mr. Dunning and carried. This being
Ordinance 610.
ORDINANCE 611 IMPOSING A SALES OR USE TAX
A proposed ordinance imposing a sales or use tax pursuant to Chapter 94,
Laws of 1970, First Extraordinary session and providing for penalties for
the failure or refusal to collect or pay said tax was introduced. Mr.
Bowen made a motion the proposed ordinance be placed on its first reading.
Motion seconded by Mr. Gardner and carried. Mr. Gardner made a motion the
proposed ordinance be placed on its second reading by title only. Motion
seconded by Mr. Hill and carried. Mr. Johanson made a motion the proposed
ordinance be placed on its third and final reading for adoption, by title
only. Motion seconded by Mr. Hill and carried. This being Ordinance 611.
N P SEWER LINE ACCEPTANCE
Mr. Ken Fujiki of Hill, Ingman, Chase and Company recommended the Council
not accept the N P sewer line until a metering device is installed to the
cities satisfaction.
SPEED LIMIT ON INTERURBAN
Discussion was held concerning a proposed ordinance regulating the speed
limit on Interurban Avenue South. Mr. Dunning reported he will confer
with the Police Chief on this matter.
EDA FUNDS
Mr. Bowen reported the City of Tukwila is eligible for EDA Funds. This
matter is to be further studied by the Council in work session.
CLEAR VIEW T V CABLE
Mr. Dunning reported he had received an inquiry from Clear View T V Cable
requesting a Franchiee. A Council work session will be held on this matter.
WORK MEETINGS
Mayor Minkler announced Council work sessions for March ]8th, March 23rd
and March 30th.
OTHER BUSINESS
Mr. Eugene Ives conplained of an unsightly yard on 53rd Avenue South
at 140th Street. This to be investigated.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:15 P.M.
