The City's new Economic
Development Strategy is now
available online
The City of Tukwila has created an Economic
Development Strategy to guide its efforts to
strengthen Tukwila’s economic future. The
primary purpose of the Economic Development
Strategy is to describe Tukwila’s vision for
sustainable and inclusive economic prosperity
and to identify strategies and actions to
achieve that vision.
Thank you to everyone who helped us create
the Strategy, especially the many community
members who participated in the surveys,
listening sessions, interviews, and focus
groups. We also greatly appreciate the
community organizations who assisted us with
community engagement plus the consulting
firm of Community Attributes who contributed
their expertise toward this effort.
You can find the final version of the Strategy
plus supporting documentation
at www.TukwilaWA.gov/Economy
Black History Month in Tukwila
Visit Black-owned businesses and learn about our city’s history.
Black History Month is a time for us to celebrate, acknowledge, and learn
about the achievements and resilience of African Americans in our
communities and beyond.
Visit Experience Tukwila's website, where we’ve compiled links and
resources for you to engage, honor, and learn this month and every
month. Check out local and national continued learning resources,
peruse our list of Black-owned business recommendations, and watch a
first-hand account of a local resident, Wayne Perryman, discussing his
experience growing up in Tukwila before the development of
Southcenter Mall.
