Commissioners shared something about themselves and celebrated outgoing Commissioners, Perri Doll and Will Ragin. • Recology Updates Colleen Minion, Public Works Solid Waste Analyst, provided information about a free recycling event on May 18 and asked for feedback regarding promotion and outreach, particularly regarding linguistically diverse populations. • Still Waters report regarding use of 2023 funds and impact. Jo reported out information provided by Abigail Tabason, Executive Director. Report attached. • Commission Membership Status Update Tukwila Equity and Social Justice Commission City of Tukwila — City Hall 6200 Southcenter Boulevard, Tukwila, WA 98188 Jo reported that there were three applications received thus far; 1 for the open City Employee position and 2 for the open Community position. No applications were received for the open Education position. Ultimately, the Mayor makes the selection with recommendations considered. The selected applicant is confirmed at the City Council meeting. • Board & Commission Equity Training Commissioners discussed dates provided by training facilitator, Benita Horn, and selected Saturday, May 18, 9am — 1pm which includes a working lunch. • 2024 ESJC Goal setting and Budget planning Commissioners continued the process by reviewing a draft work plan, identifying tasks in each goal/priority area, and self-selecting goal/priority areas to work on. 2024 Priority Relationship -building in the community: Learn What is Happening in the Community Amplify ESJC's Community Presense Awareness, Forums, Trainings: Racial Restrictive Covenants Comprehensive Plan Elements In Partnership with EPIC, Enforce Equity Policies: Prioritize Local Hires Drill Into the Equity Toolkit Board & Commissions: Equitable Recruitment Equity Policy Accountability VI Miscellaneous • EPIC Updates —Jo invited Commissioners to the EPIC Full Team meeting on Wednesday, March 13 from 1-2:30pm via MS Teams. Good Morning - Ms. Flora mentioned to me that the commission needed an update. We were able to use the funding to purchase a month of food going into December and January. These were the items purchased: December Mac and Cheese 20 cases Teddy Grahams 6 cases Winco Strawberry and Cream Oatmeal 4 cases Winco Peach Oatmeal 4 cases Bumble Bee Tuna 80 cases Ritz Cracker Cheese 8 cases Austin Cheese Crackers 6 cases Campbell's Soup 14 cases Chef Boyardee Rice and Vegetable 17 cases Del Monte Corn 11 cases Cambell's Cream of Potato 18 cases Del Monte Mandarin 20 cases Del Monte Peach 20 cases $4,365.44 Tukwila Equity and Social Justice Commission City of Tukwila — City Hall 6200 Southcenter Boulevard, Tukwila, WA 98188 We are able to feed 220 students a week in all three elementary schools and our one middle school. Which consists of 1,320 meals/ week, 1,540 snacks/week, 220 bottles/week of water and juice hand delivered by our volunteers directly to their classrooms.
