CALL TO ORDERIPLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Council President Abdi called the Tukwila City Council) rneeting to order at 7:0O p.m. and led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. OFFICIALS Present at the meeting were Council President Mohamed A,bdi (on-site); Coluncilmiembers De'Seani Quinn (on-site), Tosh Sharp, (on-site), Armen Papyan (on-site), Jlovita McConnell (on-site), Dennis Martinez (on- site),, Hannah, Hedrick (on-site). CITY OFFICIALS Marty Wine, linterim, City Administrator", Brandon Miiles, interim Deputy City Administrator;, Nora Gierlloiff, Community Development Director; Viicky arisen, Finance Director; Tony Cullertoin, Deputy Finance Director; Peter Mayer, (Parks and Recreation Director; Eric Drever, Police Chief', Eric Lund, Deputy Police Chief, Hari Poinnekanti, Public Work 5 Director,, Jloel Bush, Chief Technology Officer; Laurel l iumphrey, Legislative Analyst; Felipe Ayala, Records Program Coordinator, LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Councilmembeir Martinez stated "The City of Tukwila is located on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people. We acknowledge their continuing connections to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their elders past, present, and emerging." PUBLIC COMMENTS Due to the, number of individuals signed up to speak, Council President Abdi asked for consensus to reduce the time limit to; 3 rninutes per individual. Consensus existed to reduce the time limit to 3 minutes,, 1 Dave Puki provided an overview of the principles of quality control and its applicability to, the planning process of the City budget. 2. Brandon Miles, Interim Deputy City Administrator, briefed the CouncH on the preliminary award of $i2 m1flion from King County toaddress homelessness and provided an overview of the items being d�iscus�sed for funding. Mayor The Mayor was not in attendance, b. City Council Councilmember Martinez attenided the South County Area Transportation Board (SCAJB'd), Cascade Water Alliance and Puget Siound Regional F'ilre Authority Governance (PSRFA) Board mieetings. He Indicated Fire Chief Carlson will attend a Council meeting in May to, speak about the Fire Benefit Chairge (FBC). Councilmember Papyan attended the South County Area Transportation Board (SC ATB,"d) meeting and the 16"'1 Annual Celebration of Affordable Housing event hoisted by the Housing Development Consortium, Councilmember Sharp engaged in discussions with students at Foster High School regarding politics and civjicsa Councilmember Quinn attended the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority (PSRF) Governance Board meeting. He participated in a civics ciass and engaged in di5cussioin$ with students on topics around Riverton, s,aifety, and housing. c. Staff There was no report. MISCELLANEOUS Councilmember Sharp asked the Council if there was interest in receiving agenda packets sooner. MAJORITY CONSENSUS EXISTED TO FORWARD THIS ITEM TO THE FINANCE & GOVERNANCE COMMMEE MEETING. Councilmember Sharp asked the Council if there is interest in improving the areaoutside of City Hall where the fountain is located. Marty Wine, Interim i City Administrator, indicated Public Works staff is, in the process of reviewing this req nest. Councilmernbeir Sharp inquired about the status of the buillding on Tukwila International Boulevard that caught on fire and! received a brief update from staff, Councilmernber Martinez reported that the restroom facilities at Bicentennial Park are currently inoperable and requested that these be fixed.
