April 2, 2024 6:00pm Location: Hybrid Tukwila community Center AND Via Microsoft Teams
1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:02pm
2. Roll Call
a. Board Members: Cynthia Chesak, Marie Parrish, Steve Miller, Robin Boland
• Absent: Gerie Ventura, Verna Seal, Angie Gonzalez
b. Staff:
• City of Tukwila Staff: John Dunn, Recreation Superintendent
• King County Library System Staff: Steven Bailey, Librarian Information Services

3. Land Acknowledgement- Robin Boland read the land acknowledgement:
"The City of Tukwila is located on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people. We acknowledge their
continuing connections to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their elders past, present
and emerging."
4. Approval of Agenda and Minutes - March 5, 2024
a. Agenda: Cynthia Chesak motioned to approve the Agenda. Marie Parrish seconded the motion;
all were in favor.
b. Minutes: Steve Miller motioned to approve the Minutes. Robin Boland seconded the motion; all
were in favor.
5. Public Comment: No public comments
6. Unfinished Business:
a. Little Libraries: John Dunn shared the Macadam Winter Garden Little Library still needs to be
installed.
7. New Business
a. Guest Speaker:John Sheller, KCLS Government Relations Manager introduced himself and what
he does for KCLS. He discussed different things that Library Boards should be doing to help
support KCLS.
b. Strategy discussion - John Dunn led a discussion on the current Tukwila municipal code
regarding the Library Board and ideas to update the code to be more relevant to actual work to
be done.

a. I<CLS: Steven Bailey provided information for the Board regarding programs and services in the
county and Tukwila.
b. City of Tukwila: John Dunn provided an update on City and Parks and Recreation events,
programs and other information.
