He expressed concern regarding the. possibility of marijuana retail in the City PRESNTATON a. MOTION CARRIED 6-0, Y UINN TO APPROVE THE CONSENT AGENDA AS The Councilrnembers asked clarifying questions regarding item h (video inspection vehicle) and the use, lifespan, and funding of the, video inspection vehicle, MOVED BY QUINN, SECONDED BY MCCONNELL TO MOVE ITEM H TO NEW BUSINESS. MOTION CARRIED 6-0. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Budget process and considerations. Brian Murphy, Principal, and Katherine Goetz, Senior Associate, with Berk Consulting provided an overview of the budget development process. The Councilmembers provided input on Council priorities for the budget development process and provided comments regarding housing shortages, B&O tax revenue, defining services and service levels, Tukwila City Council Regular riteeting Minutes June 3, 2024 Page 3 of 4 public safety, "bridge"' budgets, balancing budget cuts with needs for services, and having productive discussions amongst the Council and with Administration, NEW BUSINESS h. Authorize the purchase of a Unit 2903 video inspection vehicle, in the amount of $43 ,254.00. (removed from consent agenda). MOVED BY QUINN, SECONDED BY MCCONNELL TO AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF A UNIT 2903 VIDEO INSPECTION VEHICLE, IN THE AMOUNT OF $438,254.00. MOTION CARRIED 5-1, WITH SHARP VOTING NO. REPORTS a. Mayor Mayor McLeod reported he recently met with Senator Bob Hasegawa and will continue Ibuiiding relationships with state legislators. The open recruitment for the Public Works Director position will soon be underway. He recently attended an Allentown neighborhood meeting and will be presenting the 'Tukwila, City of Opportunity Scholarship" awards to the award recipients at Foster High School this week b. City Council Councilmember Sharp attended the Aillentown neighborhood meeting and expressed he would like to see similar meetings for other neighborhoods, or more town halls, He expressed appreciation for the City Administrator Report Council President Abdi relayed he will also be in attendance at the Foster High School awards ceremony nd graduation„ Councilmember Martinez partboated in the South Count/ Area Transportation Board (SCATBd) meeting, a Cascade Water Alliance meeting and a LiNC meeting through the Center for Children & Youth Justice„ c. Staff Marty Wine, Interim City Administrator, referenced the CA (City Administrator) Report and indicated recruitments are underway for the Finance and Public Works Director positions, She reported the Tukwila Community Center has expanded its hours and is now open until 7:3,0 arn. through 4:30 pm. on Saturdays and Sundays, MISCELLANEOUS Following a request far clanfication from Councilmember Martinez regarding the format of the Riverton Park United Methodist Church asylee seeker response report, Ms, 'Wine indicated the report would be provided by Brandon Miles, Drector of Strategic initiatives and Government Relations, ADJOURNMENT 8:58 p.m. UNANIMOUS CONSENSUS EXISTED TO ADJOURN THE REGULAR MEETING.
