Kristen Schwabe -Fry Lina Stinson -Ali Jo Anderson Nancy Eklund Neil Tabor Commissioners shared something about themselves. Celebrated outgoing Youth Commissioner, Dennis Nguyen. • City of Tukwila Comprehensive Plan & Housing — Nancy Eklund, Long Range Planning Supervisor and Neil Tabor, Senior Planner Nancy and Neil provided a comprehensive plan update, presented housing related updates and future projects, introduced the Black Home Initiative, and opened the floor for discussion. Commissioners raised interest in development of low-income housing, tiny homes, and youth shelters. It was noted that there is very limited availability of youth shelters in King County. Questions arose about incentives for developers and how City -owned property could be utilized for low-income housing initiatives. Commissioners also had questions about how the Black Home Initiative works, including eligibility and where qualified buyers could purchase homes. These topics will be discussed at the July and August meetings. Tukwila Equity and Social Justice Commission City of Tukwila — City Hall 6200 Southcenter Boulevard, Tukwila, WA 98188 • 2024 ESJC Workplan Tasks and Updates Relationship -building in the community: Jo and Lina discussed their visit to UTOPIA Washington's health clinic and office in Kent. UTOPIA is a queer and BIPOC led organization with interest in serving Tukwila. A representative presented at the City's Pride Flag raising ceremony. Jo will order Commissioner name badges. Awareness, Forums, Trainings: Jo will invite a representative of the Washington State Housing Finance Commission to discuss initiatives related to Racial Restrictive Covenants. In Partnership with EPIC, Enforce Equity Policies: Jo will present finding from the UW Evans School Capstone Project: Using Equity in Decision Making. Board & Commissions: The May 18 Equity training was attended by 20 board members and commissioners.
